A Sri Lankan pastry Chef in Melbourne’s iconic Pelligrini’s Bar. Who would have thought? Daya Perera has been in the industry for 55 years, and 45 of those in Australia. He was Head Chef at Colombo’s Galle Face Hotel at one time. Now he makes the amazing Italian pastry at Pellegrini’s Bar, an icon since 1954.

What a week it’s been .. showing New Zealand radio personalities Jono & Ben our world. New Zealand radio celebrities Jono & Ben tried their hands at picking tea this morning. The real tea pickers found them hilarious but they thought they did well. Try everything once, gentlemen, but if you fail the first time don’t feel obliged to pick yourself up and try again, at least not with tea picking 😉😵‍💫 .. definitely not in those suits!

Here comes inspiration … the 90th Session of the Dilmah School of Tea has started in Colombo with the largest ever class. We will be exploring the taste, taste adventure, natural goodness and ethical purpose in every cup of fine tea. We will understand the importance of Nature in crafting fine tea, and how tea dignifies food, emphasizing texture, flavour, pushing aroma and aiding digestion and gut health.

Where Dulan is, there’s sure to be our Dilmah Ceylon Cinnamon and amazing Ceylon Tea. So the spectacular Ceylon Cinnamon infused Jumbo prawn and sublime Cinnamon dusted dessert was to be expected. Wow! Welcome back Dulan.

More than a beautiful day at the MJF Foundation Centre West, with Nipuna (alumni of our Rainbow Kids programme) back as Chief Guest for the Cricket Carnival. There’s more because Sri Lanka’s National Women’s’ Cricket Team - our lionesses - have joined the fun, playing alongside youth from our Special Needs centres, volunteers and MJF Foundation and Dilmah staff. And .. guess what? .. the Peoples’ Market is open for business, right here.

The Dilmah Natural Luxury Sommelier Challenge made its international debut in Shanghai last week. 88 participating teams explored a fresh perspective on tea in the land where tea was first discovered nearly 5,000 years ago. The contest emphasizes the luxury that is a part of the influence of nature in crafting fine tea, the passion of the artisan, wellness in quality ingredients and more in a requiring respect for tea and other ingredients in the gastronomy and mixology that competitors are required to present. All were winners for their creativity, but two teams will visit the home of Dilmah, to continue their tea inspired adventure.
