Design and construction aren't two separate conversations. They work best when they happen together, early.
Swipe through for why.
Save this for later before your project begins.

Spring is when a lot of renovation and new build conversations start in Melbourne.
Before we get too far into the season, it felt right to say what we actually believe.
At CDK, we think everyone involved in a project, the client, the architect, the trades, our own team, should genuinely feel glad they were part of it. Not just satisfied with the outcome, but glad about the process itself.
That belief shapes how we quote, how we communicate, and how we build. It's less about the fastest way to get a job done, and more about doing it properly, the first time.
If you're starting to think about a project this spring, we'd love to hear about it.

We can tell you what we believe makes a great building experience.
But hearing it from our clients means much more.
“It has been a pleasure working with David and the team. While challenges were faced due to adverse weather and materials shortages (who didn't in 2022), we always worked through the solution.” - John Glancy
It's often the things that aren't visible in the finished photographs that clients remember most.
The communication.
The responsiveness.
The way problems were handled.
The feeling that someone was genuinely looking after the project.
We're incredibly proud of the homes we build.
But we're equally proud of the relationships we build along the way.
Thinking about your own project?
Start with a conversation.

A finished home can make everything look simple.
But behind every space is a series of decisions, conversations and details that brought it there.
From the original design intent to the materials selected, the construction sequence and the finishing details — every part needs to work together.
That's what we love about architecturally designed homes.
The finished result isn't just about how it looks.
It's about how thoughtfully it has been brought together.
Have a project you'd like to bring to life? We'd love to hear about it.
Great architecture doesn’t stop at the drawings.
It takes collaboration to bring the vision to life.
In this conversation, James and David talk about working together throughout the project — from design through to construction.
For us, this is what a strong builder–architect relationship looks like.
- Open conversations.
- Shared problem solving.
- Respect for the design.
- And a common goal: creating something exceptional.
Architects — if you’re looking for a builder who values the way you work, let’s have a conversation.

There’s no such thing as a completely stress-free building project.
But there are ways to make the experience clearer, calmer and more predictable.
For us, that comes down to preparation, communication, collaboration and having a clear process.
These aren’t extras.
They’re part of building well.
Save this if you’re planning a build or renovation.
What looks simple in the finished home can involve careful planning, coordination and craftsmanship behind the scenes.
It’s one of the things we love about architecturally designed homes.
The details have a reason.
And they’re worth getting right.
Want to see more of the details behind our projects? Follow along.
There’s something different about hearing directly from the people who have experienced the process.
This client shared her experience of working with CDK from her own perspective.
No script.
No sales pitch.
Just an honest reflection on what it was like to build their home with us.
We’re incredibly grateful when clients take the time to share their experience.

Why builder + architect relationships matter
The best builder–architect relationships aren’t about one person telling the other how to do their job.
They’re about bringing different expertise to the same table.
Architects bring the design vision.
Builders bring construction experience.
Together, they can ask better questions, solve problems earlier and find practical ways to protect the design intent.
That’s the kind of collaboration we value at CDK.
Are you an architect looking for a builder who values collaboration? We’d love to connect.
