Journal Entry: Mountain Sports Thoughts, 2026.
‘Mountain sports bring together a huge range of people. They can be competitive, epic, and grand, but they can also be grounding, spiritual, and solitary. I believe these sports put you in so many uncomfortable situations, yet they’re addictive. Whether you know it beforehand or not, mountains carry hardship and challenges.
In these challenges, you ask why you do it. Is it because you want to be the best? To carry some victory? Is this your own victory or do you strive to be categorised as a top athlete in what you do?
Is it to become more grounded? Seeking deeper connection to yourself or a community to share the experience with?
Whatever your reason, mountain sports shape us, and impact us in a way no other experience can. The more I do these sports, the deeper I find my meaning, which changes what I consider to be a victory.
Stronger, wiser and older, but my true victory is being surrounded by a community of meaningful friendships.’

Volcán Sollipulli, 2282 m.
A super special adventure - a splitboard mission with friends. It’s a volcanic caldera in Araucanía, in Chile, with an enormous ~4 km-wide glacier filling the crater.
Chile, South America.

A home, a small Chilean town and a winter escape. This place was special, and I loved every minute in Chile.

More black-and-white film from around Chile. What a sweet, beautiful story to piece together in images. I loved living there over the winter.

Ski touring and the views you'll see. Take a day to walk around the mountains to see more volcanoes. I'd slide down that. It's the most fun.

One of the most iconic trees of the Andes, the Araucaria araucana (Pehuén) has been around for over 200 million years — a true living fossil. Some trees can live for more than 1,000 years.
For the Pehuenche people, the tree is deeply connected to culture, food and identity. Its large seeds, piñones, have sustained communities for generations.
Growing amongst the volcanoes and snow-covered mountains of Malalcahuello, these trees are incredible.

Hello,
Here’s a photo of something I am proud of: I sent it to Chile on a whim to see if I liked volcanoes and splitboarding. Turns out I do, and I learnt a lot.
