🤩✨✨• Merge Records On November 13, 2026, Merge Records will reissue two 1982 releases by The Clean: their second EP Great Sounds Great, Good Sounds Good, So-So Sounds So-So, Bad Sounds Bad, Rotten Sounds Rotten!! and the “Getting Older” 7-inch single.

This will be the first time either title has been in print on vinyl since its initial release, and the first time either vinyl release has been available in North America. Reflecting their original issues in 1982, these reissues will be pressed on black vinyl and have been remastered by Tex Houston with fresh transfers of the original master tapes that are held at Alexander Turnbull Library (National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga Aotearoa).

⟢𑣲 ⋆˚࿔ • Studio Richter Mahr We welcomed Ichiko Aoba as a Visiting Artist at the studio. Japanese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist 𝑰𝑪𝑯𝑰𝑲𝑶 𝑨𝑶𝑩𝑨 has released eight albums since her 2010 debut Razorblade Maiden. She founded her independent label, hermine, in 2020, through which she released her breakthrough album, Windswept Adan. Often created with little more than classical guitar or synthesizer, her music feels at once intimate and boundless, fragile and unyielding, virtuosic yet understated.
Her acclaimed album Luminescent Creatures launched a two-year world tour spanning iconic stages including the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Her work also encompasses radio, narration and film: her score for Amiko won Best Music at the 77th Mainichi Film Awards, and in 2023 she received the Reeperbahn Festival’s ANCHOR Award.

During her time at Studio Richter Mahr, Ichiko wrote and recorded “air” with longtime collaborator and co-writer Taro Umebayashi, with engineer Toshihiko Kasai. Beginning with field recordings captured locally on a bright morning, they created a piece inspired by and made in collaboration with NATURE for Sounds Right, the initiative led by UN Live and EarthPercent through which music supports environmental conservation.
The song emerged through an unusually spontaneous and unhurried session, built simply around Ichiko’s voice and the studio’s grand piano.

After I finished the demo for the song and began to envision its future I could hear Fashion Club very clearly. I knew she would understand the sort of energetic seed and reference point that was already there, but also be unafraid to find and detonate big shifts and spiritual pivots in the studio. I also knew we would all get off on that in a shared way because her and Alan Wyffels and I all crave the same sort of lawlessness and surprise and intensity. Plus I just knew it would sound sick as hell. Also, if I wanted a note to sound like Scully but with a katana we wouldn’t have to talk about it too much or at all.
