‘WHILE WE’RE HERE’ 🌅🌿✨
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how easy it is to move through life without fully taking in the good parts while we’re living them.
This collection started during our recent trip back to the Philippines. While we were in Palawan, life seemed to move a little slower. I became drawn to the changing afternoon light, time spent with family, the colours of the landscape, and that feeling of being somewhere I knew I may never experience in quite the same way again.
There was something about being surrounded by so much life and abundance, while knowing none of it would stay exactly as it was. Often, it’s only with time that we understand just how special a chapter of life really was.
When we came home, those memories followed me back to the loom.
I intuitively handwove six new CT Frames in the free spirit of SAORI weaving, allowing colour, texture and natural fibres to find their own way as I worked. Each piece carries the mark of the hand and the feeling of that time, making every work entirely one-of-one and impossible to replicate.
I called the collection ‘WHILE WE’RE HERE’ because, for me, it’s about being present for the fullness of life as it unfolds. A reminder to appreciate what’s here, while it’s here. 🤎
Our Collectors List has already had a little sneak peek, with private access to the collection before its public release.

A little theatre for the everyday 💙🤩💫
Our Crossing Threads ART CUSHION is plump, playful and unapologetically oversized, with bold hits of colour and all that glorious texture. Handwoven and truly one-of-a-kind.
We wanted it to feel considered from every angle too, so turn it over and you’ll discover a completely different side. And the insert? 100% feather 🪶
For us, the CT ART CUSHION is about bringing a little theatre to the everyday. Something with enough presence to hold its own in a room, but still made to be touched, held, leaned into and lived with.
We like to call it ARTFUL LIVING 💁🏽♀️
First debuted at ‘THE OBJECT SHOW’ with RAINBOW STUDIOS at The EVE Hotel x Arts-Matter | A-M Journal , our first ART CUSHION has now found its home 💙
For those who missed out, we’re opening a limited number of commissions for one-of-one ART CUSHIONS. Each will be individually handwoven and intuitively composed, with no two ever the same.
DM us to enquire about commissioning your own 🤗

ONE OF US IS THE DREAMER. THE OTHER IS THE REALIST. 👯♀️💁🏽♀️
Can you guess who’s who? 👀
We recently sat down with Hunter & Folk for a conversation that had us looking back at the past 11 years of Crossing Threads, and thinking about what has shaped us both as artists and sisters along the way.
We talk about the four-hour weaving workshop that started it all, what we each bring to our creative partnership and how our Australian-Filipino heritage has influenced the way we make.
We also get into why weaving has become such a grounding practice for us, what life looks like outside the studio, and why we’re increasingly curious about taking our textiles beyond the wall.
It was one of those interviews that made us stop and reflect on how much has changed since we first caught “weaver fever”, and how many of the things that shaped us were there long before Crossing Threads even existed.
A little more about the sisters behind the threads, and where we’re heading next.☺️🤗✨
Thank you to Hande Hunter & Folk for sharing our story. - Lauren and Kass

AVAILABLE ON OUR ONLINE STORE // Meet our ‘FRAGMENTS SERIES’
This series is about the ways life changes us and how we can lose parts of ourselves while slowly making room for something new.
I made these works in the thick of early motherhood, when I was still trying to understand who I was becoming. I could still recognise parts of my old self, but other parts felt stretched thin or strangely distant.
I don’t think I realised it at the time, but those feelings naturally found their way into the work. I was drawn to linen, silk, bamboo and cotton, and worked quite intuitively with each piece (mostly during nap time!)
Looking at them now, I think that’s what ‘FRAGMENTS’ has come to mean to me. We’re never really finished versions of ourselves. Life keeps changing us, and somehow we keep finding new ways to put the pieces together. - Lauren

We usually let our work do the talking. This Friday, it’s our turn. 💁🏽♀️👯♀️🗣️
We’ve been invited by MADE IN KIN to take part in SHOW & TELL, a gathering of creatives coming together to share what we make, what we know, what we’re learning and, importantly, some of what happens behind the scenes.
We will be taking the floor to share the story behind one of our recent creative leaps. We’ll be talking about how an idea moved from “what if?” to something real, the role collaboration played in bringing it to life, and a few of the lessons we picked up along the way.
Curated by MADE IN KIN founder Pauline Morrissey and hosted by Ayeesha Ash , we’ll be sharing the evening with 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚 🪸🪺 Richmond Kobla Dido Oliver Reyes | Illustration | Graphic Design and ★ Phoebe McIlwraith ★ of SPEAKINGTRUTH with Anna Hay behind the lens capturing the evening.
If you’re in Sydney, come along for an evening of creative conversation, ideas and good company. We’d love to see some familiar faces there!
📍 Reddie Furniture Crown Street, Surry Hills
📅 Friday 18 September, 5.30–8.30pm
🥂 Drinks, nibbles + plenty of time to mingle
Spaces are limited. RSVP via MADE IN KIN
See you there! x - Lauren and Kass

We’re honoured to share that Crossing Threads is now featured on the Homo Faber Guide HOMO FABER
For those unfamiliar, Homo Faber Guide is a global platform dedicated to celebrating craftsmanship and the people behind it. Developed by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, it brings together artisans, designers, galleries and makers from around the world who share a deep respect for material, skill and the handmade.
At the heart of the Foundation is a mission to celebrate and preserve craftsmanship, while connecting the people who make with those who appreciate and champion their work.
To have our practice recognised and considered for the Guide feels incredibly special! 🫶🏽💗☺️ So much of what we do at Crossing Threads comes back to the hand: taking our time, learning through making, experimenting with material and finding our own language through fibre.
To now see our work sitting within this wider international community of craftspeople is something we’re genuinely honoured by, and very grateful to be part of.
Thank you Emma-Kate Wilson for interviewing us, and to the HOMO FABER team for your support and championing creative artisans worldwide. 🙏🏽🙌🏽✨

You’ve seen the glimpses. Now we can finally show you the full reveal.
Cushions have actually been on our minds for a long time. We loved the idea of taking what we do on the loom and pushing it in a completely different direction. Playing with scale, exaggerated proportions, unexpected colour and all that glorious texture.
And so, the Crossing Threads ‘ART CUSHION’ was born. ✨💙🤎💗
Each one begins with an original, one-of-one SAORI handwoven textile, composed intuitively on the loom and impossible to replicate. From there, we build around the weaving, playing with its colours, textures and personality until it becomes this generous, almost larger-than-life sculptural object.
Titled ‘AZURE’, shades of blue move through the weave before spilling out into an exaggerated ultramarine fringe, paired with a wonderfully unexpected salmon-pink bouclé reverse.
It’s plump, playful and unapologetically oversized. We wanted it to feel considered from every angle too, so turn it over, and you get a completely different side of ‘AZURE’. And the insert? 100% feather 🪶
For us, the CT ART CUSHION is about bringing a little theatre to the everyday. Something one-of-one with enough presence to really hold its own in a room, but that you can still touch, hold, lean into and actually live with.
After hinting at cushions for what feels like forever, it feels so good to finally share this first one properly. And even better, ‘AZURE’ has already found its forever home! ☺️
The first of many? We think so.
More to come! 🤗

OUR PERIWINKLE ERA 💙💜
I’ve been having a bit of a love/lust moment with periwinkle lately… actually forever!
There’s something about this colour I can’t quite shake. Somewhere between blue and purple, it holds this strange tension between softness and intensity. Gentle one moment, almost electric the next.
It reminds me of those fleeting moments at the beginning and end of the day, when the sky changes for what feels like only a few minutes. Neither here nor there. Somewhere in between.
I’ve been playing with how far I can push weaving beyond something soft and flat, letting it push forward, disappear and reveal itself again. And this time, adding paint! 🎨
Maybe this is my periwinkle era. - Lauren

A CLOSER LOOK AT ‘THE VESTIGE CHAIR’
We’ve always been drawn to materials that have had a life before us. The markings, imperfections and little traces of where they’ve been often make them all the more interesting.
So when we started thinking about what our practice could look like beyond the loom, we knew we wanted to bring that same curiosity into the world of objects.
‘THE VESTIGE CHAIR’ began with a vintage chrome cantilever chair and a collection of discontinued premium leather samples and industry offcuts, gathered through Instyle | Textiles, Leathers + Acoustics , local upholstery artisans and reuse co-ops.
Each piece of leather was painstakingly cut into hundreds of fine strips by hand, then applied one by one. Many laborious hours went into building its dense, unruly surface, gradually transforming a sleek chair into something altogether more tactile and sculptural.
The name VESTIGE comes from the Latin vestigium, meaning a trace, footprint or mark left behind. We loved the sentiment of taking what remains, adding our own hand to it, and allowing it to take on a new form.
What was once residual becomes abundant.
And here she is.
