National Custom Compounding believes in using only certified Australian components and raw material supplies. All of the supplies meet Australian standards including TGA facility approval. This ensures your compounded medicines only contain the best components to ensure you receive the best outcome. The company has been successfully operating from Merrimac, Queensland for the last 10 years. Although the name of the business has changed from Gooding Drive Compounding to National Custom Compounding, the standards have remained high. Our team ensures that our methods, formulas and products are accurately made by undertaking random stability testing. This is not a required step for compounding pharmacies but we see value in testing our formulas and medicines to ensure Patients and Practitioners have faith in using our services. Free collection at over 600 'Affiliate' Pharmacies - Our Partner Pharmacy network enables a patient to order and collection (at no extra cost) compounded medication through their regular pharmacy.

Ever wondered why the cost of an individually prepared medicine can differ from an off-the-shelf product?
Each prescribed preparation is made for one patient rather than produced in a large batch. The final cost can reflect the formulation, dosage form, quantity, preparation time and checks involved.
There is no single price that applies to every preparation. If cost is unclear, ask the dispensing pharmacy to explain it before the medicine is prepared.

A tablet that looks easy to split is not always safe to cut.
Some modified-release or specially coated tablets should not be divided. Even with other tablets, an uneven split can change the dose. Before crushing or cutting any medicine, check the label and ask your pharmacist.
If the available strength does not suit, your prescriber and pharmacist can discuss whether another strength or dosage form is appropriate.

Queensland heat and humidity are not friendly to every medicine.
Always follow the storage directions on the dispensing label. Unless the label says otherwise, keep medicine in its original packaging, away from direct sunlight, moisture and children's reach. Do not refrigerate a medicine unless instructed, because storage requirements vary.
If a preparation has been left in a hot car, exposed to moisture or stored incorrectly, ask the dispensing pharmacy before using it.

There is no single shelf life for every compounded medicine.
The beyond-use date depends on the ingredients, dosage form, available stability information and how the preparation must be stored. That is why the label on your own medicine matters more than a general rule.
Check the date and storage instructions each time, and contact the dispensing pharmacy if anything is unclear.

Sometimes the active medicine is suitable, but a filler, dye, preservative, flavour or dosage form is not.
Where clinically appropriate and prescribed, compounding may allow a pharmacist to prepare an alternative without a particular non-active ingredient. Not every allergy or sensitivity can be accommodated, so the first step is a careful review with your doctor and pharmacist.

Creams, gels and patches can all deliver medicine through or onto the skin, but they are not interchangeable.
The base affects how a preparation feels, which ingredients it can carry and how it releases them. A compounding pharmacist considers the prescribed ingredient, the intended use and the patient's needs before selecting a suitable dosage form.
