π ROUND 4 RESULTS | MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway | JULY 18 π
Qualifying: π₯ P1
Race 1: π₯ P1
Race 2: π₯ P1
Race 3: π₯ P1
A perfect day on paper, but it certainly wasn't straightforward!
Qualifying was in tricky damp conditions, which are almost my favourite. Judging the grip lap by lap, we managed to take pole by 1.6 seconds.
Race 1 was sadly cut short after my mate Mark Horan hit a huge oil patch through no fault of his own on his debut in the red VW Golf GTI TCR. Thankfully he's okay, but I'm thinking of him as the team assesses the damage.
I also had a scare of my own... I rolled onto the grid and realised I'd forgotten to fuel the car! π
We only had about 1/8 of a tank, so I was actually fuel saving behind the Safety Car to make it to the finish.
Race 2 was another highlight, setting a new C Class lap record of 1:04.6810. π Race 3 was all about bringing it home safely and banking the points.
Huge thanks to Brad at Precision Auto Haus for getting on top of our brake issues after Collie, and to Adam McGavigan for jumping in to help all day without being asked. Legends.
I'm also incredibly proud to officially welcome Leigh Homes Pty Ltd to Mason Legg Racing! We're excited to have them on board and can't wait to see what we can achieve together.
As always, thank you to Jaylene for holding the fort at home, and Scott Elsley for your support, and to everyone who follows the journey. Finally, thank you to the WA Sporting Car Club West Australian Production Car Racing Association and all the Western Australian Motorsport Officials and medics who make our racing possible.
Next up: Collie Motorplex on August 15β16, where we'll be chasing the prestigious Powerhouse Cup! πͺπ

Race day tomorrow! ππ
We're back at Motormall Wanneroo Raceway for Round 4 of the WA Production Car Championship.
We're still carrying a few headaches from Collie with our brake issues, and the tyres have definitely seen better days... but if the rain turns up, it might just level the playing field. π§οΈπ
Looking forward to another great day of racing. If you can't make it to the track, the livestream link will be in the comments! πΊ
See you tomorrow! πππ¨

Tomorrow's the day! ππ₯
Round 4 is here, and we're excited to welcome WA Production Cars Treasurer Mark Horan for his racing debut with the category in his VW Golf GTI TCR.
The forecast suggests a cool day with a mix of cloud and sunshine... but in motorsport, the weather can change quickly. If the rain makes an appearance, it could throw a real spanner in the works and shake things up across every class. π¦οΈπ
Good luck to all our competitorsβwe'll see you at Motormall Wanneroo Raceway!

WAPC: What got you into racing, and how did you end up in production cars?
ML: Raced open wheelers for a number of years and wanted a change, have been watching the Bathurst 6 Hour events so that gave me the direction for Production Cars. I then realised I liked the regulations which keep modifications to a minimum, therefore costs are kept relatively low.
WAPC: Tell us about your car β what makes it special or a bit of a handful on track?
ML: I've always liked Golf's so this was the logical move into Production Cars. It's a limited edition 40 Year model which are quite sought after, I'd like to think I saved this one as it was crash damaged from hitting a Kangaroo by the previous owner! What makes it a handful? When the electronic handbrake stuck on from the start line in its first race! Check ya jocks sort of moment.
WAPC: Whatβs your favourite Aussie track and why?
ML: Bathurst - The risk and reward, and the fact it's pretty much a mountain. I haven't raced there, but I'm working on changing that!
WAPC: Got any pre-race rituals, superstitions, or must-have snacks?
ML: Going to the toilet multiple times before a race π©
Most race days I try to stay on a fruit only diet, supplemented with electrolytes to help the issue π
WAPC: Whatβs been your most memorable moment on track so far
ML: Winning outright on debut in the wet with no tuning day at all. Qualifying was the first time the Golf had hit the track! Very closely followed by winning the Enduro with a calculated drive and strategy.
WAPC: Whatβs your race number, is there a story behind how you picked it?
ML: 85 - I wanted an unusual number that I could call my own, itβs been good to me so far.
WAPC: Who are your sponsors or supporters, give them a shoutout?
ML: My wife who holds the fort whilst I do what I love.
Brad at Precision Auto Haus, an absolute champion of a bloke who shares the same passion.
Scott at Straight Edge Steel Frame homes who has been a loyal supporter for many years.
Brent Peters for giving me the energy to make the category swap, Damo at DC Auto Centre who helped complete the build in record time, it must also be said that a lot of others helped along the way also.
Most recently Gavin from Leigh Homes Pty Ltd who has joined the journey with us.

Unfortunately our Sydney 300 campaign has come to an early end after an accident during practice this morning.
Coming out of Turn 7, the rear of the Mini stepped out I went into the concrete wall. I was checking my mirrors with a faster car approaching from behind, and with a bit of moisture around I made a mistake with large consequences. The responsibility is mine and I fully own it.
The damage was too significant to continue, which means we're out of the event before it really began.
Right now there are plenty of emotions. More than anything, I'm disappointed in myself. Kyle put in a huge effort to get here for his first race in quite some time, and MWM Racing generously trusted me with their car this weekend. I'm incredibly grateful for that opportunity and genuinely sorry that we've ended up in this position.
Motorsport can be brutal at times. You work hard, travel long distances, spend countless hours preparing, and sometimes it can all change in an instant.
A huge thank you to the medical team, recovery crew, officials and volunteers for their professionalism and quick response. I'm sore and disappointed, it'll just take time to process.
I appreciate all the messages and support. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, and sorry again to Kyle, the MWM Racing crew, our supporters, and everyone else involved.

SYDNEY 300 β DAY 1 β
Day 1 is in the books here at Sydney Motorsport Park in the MWMRacing R53 Mini for the Sydney 300.
Wow, did I underestimate how long it would take to learn this place! Unfortunately, we had a couple of mishaps throughout the day which limited our track time and meant I couldn't get as many laps in as I'd hoped. The main culprit was the passenger-side CV, but you'd much rather find these issues tonight than tomorrow when it counts.
Hard on the gear Kyle McPherson π (not really)
Tomorrow is another day, and thankfully we have two more practice sessions. No shame in admitting I need every lap I can get around this awesome circuit.
A huge thanks to the MWM Racing crew for burning the midnight oil to get the Mini ready for tomorrow.

COLLIE DONE βοΈ
May 16 | CollieMotorplex | West Australian Production Car Racing Round 3
Quali β P1 and only 3 tenths off the outright Production Car lap record π
Race 1 β P1.
Discovered a brake issue when the pedal went to the floor at the end of the bowling alley⦠properly scary stuff. Nursed it home for the last 2 laps and got very lucky.
Race 2 β P1.
Found the front pads had basically nothing left and were wearing on an angle. Threw in some old pads from Damo and focused on doing the bare minimum to hold position. Lots of lifting and coasting.
Race 3 β P1.
Shortened to a 4 lap sprint after a heap of delays through the day. Built a little confidence back in the brakes and had some fun battling Joel Carrello from Improved Production without pushing the limits.
P1 outright for the meet and now leading the prestigious Powerhouse Cup π
Collie, you are awesome. This track is unreal in the Golf and I canβt wait to come back with confidence in the brakes again π
Huge thanks to Damien Croxon for the pads and sportsmanship π€
Gavin Dixon & Adam McGavigan for the lend and help with the trailer π
Jonathan Scarey for jumping on the radio β definitely needed the moral support after the brake drama!
Isaac Scarey for the awesome photos πΈ
Thanks to my wife for holding down the fort at home β€οΈ
Big thanks to our mates at Improved Production Racing Association of WA Group for an awesome combined grid.
Precision Auto Haus β appreciate everything you do, fortunate to have you riding with me!
Straight Edge Steel Frame Homes β thanks for the continued support π
As always, massive thanks to all the volunteers, officials and everyone involved in making the event happen. Without you, there is no racing β€οΈ

Things going nicely so far!
I'd be naive to think that this was going to continue at CollieMotorplex on May 16.
The combination of Damien Croxon and the Renault Megane is a very fast one at Collie and I'm almost certain I'll be chasing him for the weekend. Let's see!
