DJILBA IS HERE 🩷
In this season of transition, we'll experience cold blue sky days with warmer rainy days. The acacia’s yellow colour will signal an explosion of wildflowers while the flower stalks of the balgas (grass trees) will emerge as the landscape heats up during the later part of the season.
Make sure to look out (!)for the koolbardi (magpie), djidi djidi (w***y wag tails) and chuck-a-luck (wattle birds) who will be protecting their nest bound young.

50 Years Deadly – Celebrating Together at Moort Dandjoo!
Today our Moort Dandjoo (Family Together) Playgroup came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 – 50 Years Deadly, celebrating the strength, resilience and rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It was a wonderful morning filled with connection, laughter and learning.
Families enjoyed sharing kangaroo stew and damper, delicious cupcakes, storytelling, face painting and creating beautiful handprint artwork together. Most importantly, children, parents, grandparents and carers had the opportunity to yarn, connect and celebrate culture in a warm and welcoming environment.
At Meerilinga, we believe that parents are a child's first teachers, and Moort Dandjoo provides a safe and supportive space where families can build friendships, strengthen community connections and learn together.
