Gold Star Behaviour (in our opinion)
Keep your gut health on track by:
Prioritising Fibre (eat your plant foods)
Add Legumes to Your Plate (add to salads, soups, stews)
Enjoy Fermented Food Daily (lactose-free yoghurt does the job)
Plenty of Water (keep that fibre moving)
Exercise Outdoors (for your body, mind and microbiome)
Topping up your Polyphenols (Your gut bugs love polyphenols from kiwifruit, berries, and yes, chocolate 😀)

Are you a little bit scared of fibre?
A great place to start is with two low FODMAP fibre sources:
Kiwifruit and chia seeds.
Our favourite way to enjoy them is in Kiwi Chia Pots.
Mix:
150 g of coconut yoghurt or lactose-free yoghurt
2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp maple syrup
Leave this to thicken in the fridge for a couple of hours then spoon over a chopped kiwifruit.
Top with more kiwifruit and a little of our gut-friendly granola.
Comment “Granola” and we’ll send you that recipe.

Frightened of fibre?
We get it – when you have IBS, too much fibre or the wrong type of fibre can cause painful bloating and unpredictable poops.
But..your gut microbes need feeding.
So here are two gentle fibre supplements that are low FODMAP and suitable for most people with IBS.
PHGG aka partially hydrolysed guar gum, and psyllium.
Both are forms of soluble fibre and suitable for people with diarrhoea predominant or constipation predominant IBS.
In a head-to-head clinical study, PHGG caused less bloating, so if you are prone to blowing up like a balloon, choose the PHGG.

Only IBS peeps will understand my dilemma 😬 My gut is having a day… but I’m still hungry! My solution is a really gentle, low fodmap smoothie. Nothing dramatic. Just something satisfying. When your gut needs a little less drama, try this 🍌🥤

✅ lactose-free milk
✅ Low FODMAP protein powder
✅ just ripe banana

Don’t let the incident at the HYROX event on the weekend put you off sporting events.
From personal experience we’ve learnt that you can train your gut as well as your heart and muscles in preparation for the big day.
Get used to drinking, and if necessary fuelling on the go…well in advance.
Certain types of fibre …soluble fibre is best… can help ensure regularity without the rush.
Take it the day before so you can have an easy bowel movement in the morning BEFORE the event.
At best this might make the difference between a PB and a result that’s OK.
At worst it might gut stop a complete derailment.
But whatever you do … keep taking part. Exercise is great for your gut and the rest of you.
🏃🏻‍♂️

One of the simplest things I do to manage my IBS is to go for a walk.

I get out most mornings to my beloved Bold Park. Daily movement helps keep my IBS in check. And honestly, it’s just as important for my mental health.

So this is my gut health advice today: go for a walk. Hug some trees. Admire some wildflowers.

Chocolate for breakfast? Permission granted ✅

Choc chia pudding with choc granola on top. Low fodmap. High fibre. Delicious.
