We had a great time creating this set piece for the show ‘Garage Girls’ which is a play inspired by the life of trailblazer and entrepreneur Alice Anderson who founded Australias first all woman motor garage in 1920’s Melbourne.

The brief was it needed to start as 6 different furniture pieces to come together to become a 1920’s style car to hold 2 people at the end.

A quick turn around but it came together great!

We had our first classes in the new workshop last weekend- (this is a photo of a session in the old workshop but I didn’t take any new photos this weekend, so just imagine it, much bigger) and it was so lovely as always it’s inspired… more workshops!

A new one which is very exciting and suggested by participants in the last workshop is a choose your own adventure. So essentially- you get to use a set amount of materials and we can make a project of your choice.

It’s my favourite kind of project- the collaborative, problem solving kind!

There’s also a sign making one and a cheeseboard one scheduled which both involve laser cutting/engraving.

We recently build, painted and installed these ceilings for another escape room in Perth. The brief to make it look like heavy chunky timbers without being heavy chunky timbers so instead we used lightweight framing clad in thin ply, we also cnc’d the 3mm grate sections to keep everything super light weight as it was all going overhead.

Our other recent large show we designed, built and installed was this production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the Regal Theatre.
Another one that was months in the making but came together really well.
It included 3 large double sided units some flown elements including Gaston’s tavern and the jail unit and a fountain to help depict the town scene.
Oh and of course the rose 🌹 that will get its own post that guy.

It was such an amazing production to be part of and the enthusiasm of the whole cast and crew is a huge reason we do this.

Let’s do it again!

There’s been a black cloud hanging over us this week-
Literally in Perth with the weather but emotionally for all of us in Australian theatre with the announcement of yet another major musical tour cancelled. For someone who runs a business set predominantly in that field it has rattled me a bit. I am lucky at the moment we have a full workshop and are very busy with lots of fun creative builds but who knows how long that may last.
Many of our builds are for schools where they are teaching students the joy of knowing and loving theatre. We owe it to those students to create somewhere for them to go and roles for them to aspire to. The fact that major players are bowing out is not a nice feeling for the rest of us still working on the dream. I hope it’s not a sign of more to come.
Sorry to everyone who lost their jobs in these shows.

This cute little tinker wall with the gorgeous sunset painted by Jesse Kaserer is up for the day at the Bunbury Passenger Terminal and even more importantly, can be yours if you want for free! Maybe a library or a school or someone would like it? Tag someone you think would like this piece and we will contact them.
It measures 1800 tall x 2400 wide. Could be screwed directly to a wall or similar.

We recently had the pleasure of helping create the world for a Midsummer Nights Dream where we created a structure where the performers could climb in, on and around.
We made some boxes with hidden castors with brakes for the performers to be able to move some trees around during the show. We also made a cute little nest that was adorned with all kinds of magical greenery.

You may have seen this pop up office around the city earlier this year for ECU. We made this tiny portable cube that actors performed in around the city for several days to demonstrate the out growing of their careers.
We had to make this piece in a way that was easy for someone else to assemble and disassemble after the initial set up so they could relocate it several times.
It has clear perspex surrounds and had a Venetian blind entry/ exit when complete.
