Today is a big day for our MLC Collegians netball teams, with Collegians 1 and Collegians 3 both heading into the finals after fantastic seasons 🏐✨

Collegians 3 has finished second on the ladder, while Collegians 1 sits in third - a wonderful achievement for both teams after a season of Monday night training, teamwork and plenty of commitment 👏

Wishing both teams the very best of luck on court today 💚💜

Looking back at these images gives us a wonderful glimpse into how our campus has grown and evolved over almost a century. From changes to the buildings and grounds to the surrounding landscape, each image captures a different chapter in MLC’s story 🏫🌳

While so much has changed, the heart of our College remains - a place where generations of girls have learned, grown and made memories.

As we continue to look towards the future, it’s a wonderful reminder to pause and appreciate where we’ve come from and the history that continues to shape MLC today 💚✨

Congratulations to MLC Collegians Bec Bignell and Laura Maitland (Class of 2003)🎬

We’re thrilled to share the news that their film STITCH UP has been selected as a finalist in the Australian Women’s Film Festival.

There’s also a special MLC connection to the film, with part of STITCH UP filmed right here at MLC in our very own Hadley Hall - making this achievement particularly exciting for our community. 🎥🏫

The film will be viewed by an impressive jury of women from across the Australian and international film and television industry, including acclaimed producer Bruna Papandrea, actress Catherine Laga’aia and Screen NSW Executive Director Kylie Munnich.

It’s wonderful to see the creativity and talent of two MLC Collegians recognised on this stage. Congratulations, Bec and Laura - we can’t wait to see where STITCH UP goes next 🌟

From MLC to Hollywood: Trilby Glover’s latest creative chapter 🎬

We’re delighted to see Trilby Glover (Class of 1996) making her feature-film debut as writer, director and star of All That Glisters.

The comedy, set around a dinner party and inspired in part by Trilby’s experiences in Los Angeles, marks an exciting new chapter in her career. The film will screen at CinefestOZ this September.

💜 A Song for Sophie - honouring the legacy of Collegian Sophie Smith (Class of 2004) 💜

Some stories stay with us long after the person has gone.

Sophie was a lover of books, music and the written word. After graduating from MLC, Sophie travelled to England on exchange, immersed herself in London’s vibrant music scene, travelled to festivals across the UK and Europe, and later made Sydney home.

In 2012, Sophie was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. After a courageous battle, she passed away in Perth in April 2014, aged just 27.

Determined to keep Sophie’s name and passions alive, her family established the Sophie Smith Fund in 2015. Over the past decade, more than $80,000 raised in Sophie’s name has supported cancer research and the Leukaemia Foundation.

Now, Sophie’s love of music and songwriting is being celebrated through ‘A Song for Sophie’, an award developed in partnership with West Australian Music (WAM) as part of the WAM Song of the Year competition.

The award supports emerging Western Australian songwriters under 25, with the recipient receiving a 12-month songwriting mentorship and $2,500 towards their artist development.

It is a beautiful and lasting tribute to Sophie - celebrating the music she loved while helping the next generation of Western Australian songwriters find their voice. 🎶

Back where it all started 💚💜

It was wonderful to welcome MLC Collegian Emily Fricke (Class of 2023) back to MLC this week, where she spoke with students across the Middle and Senior School about STEM, university pathways and her experience studying engineering 👩‍🔬

Emily shared her journey and the opportunities available through a career in STEM, helping to inspire the next generation of young women to consider where their own passions and skills could take them.

A wonderful example of our Collegians giving back and sharing their experiences with the next generation of MLC students.
