And we’re being real, it hasn’t been the easiest year.

With the rise of AI and a fast-moving industry, the landscape is shifting quickly. The noise is louder. The pace is relentless. And the value of design is being questioned in new ways.

But here’s what hasn’t changed.
We are bespoke.
We are human-led.
And we still believe—deeply—that design should matter.

For 26 years, we’ve been crafting brands with intention. Not just making things look good, but making them work—strategically, commercially, and meaningfully. That kind of thinking doesn’t come from shortcuts. It comes from experience, instinct, collaboration, and care.

AI has its place. It’s a tool.

But it will never replace the nuance of human thinking, the lived experience behind decisions, or the relationships that shape great work.

This year has reminded us why we do what we do.

ANZAC DAY — Friday 25 April 2025

As the sun rises over the paddocks, we pause to remember.

Today we honour those who served — people and animals alike — who showed courage in the face of fear, and gave more than we can ever repay.
From the red dust of Gallipoli to modern-day deployments, their legacy endures.

We also remember the animals who served without choice — horses, donkeys, dogs, and pigeons — carrying supplies, delivering messages, standing quietly beside their human companions. Loyal. Brave. Enduring.

Their sacrifice is woven into the story of every land.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

We’re excited to share that Design City has completed the new brand and website for Egypt Equine Aid. This project was especially meaningful for us as it supports an incredible cause—helping working horses and donkeys in Egypt as well as working alongside Jill Barton, the founder of EEA from Perth, who has dedicated her life to this mission. We aimed to create a website that reflects both the compassion and the urgency of their work.

This year's annual highlights a group of sharing wisdom across generations within a quilt embroidered with symbols of progress made over the years. The artist, Sophie Diao, says she hopes people will people to spend more time with others from different generations as there’s much to learn from the experiences of those who came before us, as well as the wonder of those who are experiencing life for the first time.
