Going way back to the official opening and broadcasting is this article highlighting the format and direction that 89.7 TWIN CITIES FM would take under then Program Director and Perth radio veteran, Paul Gadenne.

Some of the long-serving volunteers in this shot have become pivotal in the survival and longevity of the station over the twenty years.

Those include: Bill Crowe (Lifetime Station Member and presenter still), Gavin Crossley, Sandra Lubke, etc.. .who were there at the very start!

26 YEARS AGO TODAY, THE SO FRESH ERA BEGAN, CHECKOUT THE FIRST PLAYLIST. On 4 September 2000, the very first So Fresh compilation hit Australian shops.

Officially titled So Fresh: The Hits of Spring 2000, it replaced the long-running Hit Machine series and launched what would become one of the most recognisable CD collections of the 2000s.

Before Spotify playlists and music streaming, So Fresh was how many of us got all the biggest songs without buying twenty different singles. These CDs ended up in bedrooms, family stereos, portable Discman players and practically every school disco in Australia.

The first edition was an incredible snapshot of music in 2000. You had Bon Jovi and blink-182 beside S Club 7, Sisqó, Anastacia, Vanessa Amorosi, Bomfunk MC’s and Eiffel 65. It was gloriously all over the place, and that was exactly what made these compilations so good.

The album reached number one on the ARIA compilation chart and began a series that would define Australian music collections throughout the 2000s.

Looking at that tracklist now, it really does feel like someone burned the entire year 2000 onto one CD.
