Some good news worth celebrating🩵
From 1 October 2026, eligible Support at Home clients will no longer need to make a personal contribution towards approved personal care, including help with everyday activities such as showering, dressing, eating, personal hygiene and self-administering medication. Your provider and your services stay the same, you simply will not be asked to pay towards the cost.
It feels fitting that this change begins on the very same day as the 2026 United Nations International Day of Older Persons. This year's theme, "The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives," is all about making sure longer lives are healthier, more secure and lived with dignity, and this is a real step in that direction.

Did you know by self-managing your Support at Home funding, you can change how much care you actually receive?
With a traditional provider, a large part of your funding can go towards administration and set rates you have no say in. That is less money spent on the support you need.
But when you self-manage with PlanCare, your funding actually works harder towards your care. You can shop around for rates that suit your budget, which means far more hours of support with the same funding. You can get up to 78% more hours of support at the lowest rates. The Restorative Care Pathway is a short-term program, up to 16 weeks, designed to help you recover after an illness, injury, or hospital stay.
A multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and dietitians, will work together under a dedicated restorative care partner to support your recovery goals, with funding available to help you along the way.
PlanCare is proud to offer the Restorative Care Pathway program to help you restore daily living skills, manage health changes, and build long-term independence.

Under the Australian Government's Support at Home program, funding is delivered as a quarterly budget and once you understand how it works, it is actually quite simple! It arrives in four equal payments across the year, one for each quarter, so you always know what is coming.
Before you spend it, up to 10% is set aside for your Care Management, covering all the planning and support happening behind the scenes for you.
The rest? That is yours to enjoy on the care and services that matter most to you.
And here is the best part: if you do not use it all, you are not penalised. Your unspent funds simply roll over to the next quarter. There is just one cap to keep in mind, you can carry forward up to $1,000 or 10% of your quarterly budget, whichever is greater.
With PlanCare, you are always on track. To help you keep an eye on your budget, we send automated email notifications as your quarterly funds are used, so you will hear from us each time you reach a milestone within the quarter. No surprises, just clarity. 🩵
