Many of us don't think twice about opening a laptop, jumping online, or accessing the support we need. But for someone trying to study, find work, or get their life back on track, not having a device or internet connection can make that next step a lot harder.
Through our partnership with Sam's Spares, Outcare recently helped a participant in the Drug Court program access a refurbished laptop, an Optus dongle and 12 months of data. Before this, they were relying on a shared family computer, making it difficult to study during their evening curfew hours.
Now, they're using online courses to learn about artificial intelligence, Python coding and small business management, with the goal of building a new career path. Having their own laptop is helping them stay engaged, keep learning and maintain the positive routine they're working hard to create.
A big thank you to Sam's Spares for helping make connection, learning and opportunity more accessible across Western Australia.

Every conversation matters. But what matters most is what happens next.
This National Child Protection Week, we're recognising the 2026 theme,"Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action."
At Outcare, our Child Safe Commitment is more than words on a page. It was designed with the voices of young people in mind, from the colours and visuals they helped shape to the language that speaks directly to them, not about them. We want every child and young person to see themselves reflected in our commitment and know that they are safe, respected, valued and heard.
Because creating child safe communities starts by listening, and grows when we turn those conversations into action. đź’ś

Confidence grows when young people are given the chance to be themselves, try new things and feel supported along the way.
That's exactly what we saw first-hand in our recent workshop led our partners at Dress for Success WA, where young people from our Bright Futures Youth Residential program took part in workshops focused on confidence, employment skills, wellbeing and self-expression.
Across the two workshops, young people grew in confidence, connected with one another, discovered hidden talents and stepped outside their comfort zones in a supportive environment.
A huge thank you to Kim, Sharon and the Dress for Success WA team for creating such a welcoming and empowering space.
Partnerships like this remind us how powerful community collaboration can be in helping young people believe in themselves and their future.

Djilba marks a season of growth, renewal and possibility across Noongar Country, with brighter days, blooming wattle and signs of new life appearing in the landscape.
It's a powerful reminder that growth takes time. Across the communities we support throughout Western Australia, we see that journey every day, as people build confidence, strengthen connections and create positive change in their lives.
Just as Country begins to emerge from winter, Djilba reminds us that even small steps can lead to meaningful transformation.
What signs of the season are you noticing where you are? We'd love to hear how you're connecting with Country and community during this time.

Today, we celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, honouring the incredible strengths, stories, and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people across the country.
The 2026 theme,"Living Our Truth," highlights the importance of truth-telling, sharing knowledge across generations, and celebrating the voices, stories and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. It reminds us that culture, identity, family and community play a vital role in helping children feel safe, connected and empowered.
Today provides an opportunity for all of us to:
• Celebrate the achievements, strengths and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
• Learn about and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives.
• Reflect on how we can continue to promote cultural safety, inclusion and belonging in our work and communities.
• Support children and young people to have a voice in decisions that affect them.
As an organisation committed to Child Safety, Respect, Inclusion and Cultural Safety, we acknowledge the importance of listening to young people, valuing their voices, and creating spaces where they can be seen, heard and celebrated for who they are.

At Outcare, supporting people to overcome life’s challenges isn’t just what we do - it’s who we are.
This year we were proud to sponsor Trek to Move Mental Mountains. In May 2026, a team of 20 trekkers took on a 14‑day expedition to Annapurna Base Camp, reaching 4,130 metres above sea level.
This journey is about more than the climb. It’s advocating for better mental health outcomes across Western Australia. Funds raised will support the Happiness Co Foundation and Barbarians Group Community Programs, empowering people to navigate mental health challenges and build stronger, more connected lives.
Our teams face complex challenges in community every day. Supporting their wellbeing, mentally, emotionally, and holistically - is part of our responsibility. Alongside backing the trek, Outcare employees will also take part in mental health workshops focused on workplace happiness and the science of happiness, reinforcing our commitment to care for those who care for others.
Because when we support our people and our community, we help move mountains - together.
As a proud PeopleKind organisation, we’re people‑first, always.

The most powerful support sometimes comes from someone who truly understands the road you've walked.
At Outcare, our lived-experience peer workers bring more than professional knowledge — they bring understanding, connection and hope.
Adam's journey through Drug Court is a powerful example of what can happen when recovery is paired with practical support from someone who has faced similar challenges. Through shared experiences of parenting, housing instability, navigating complex systems and rebuilding life after adversity, trust was built, barriers were overcome and a brighter future began to take shape.
Today, Adam has graduated Drug Court, maintained his sobriety, regained custody of his daughters, commenced study and is building the future he once thought was out of reach.
His story is a reminder that people are not defined by their past, and that lived experience can be a powerful catalyst for change, connection and lasting recovery.

On Monday 27 July at 12:00pm (WA time), Australia will test the new AusAlert emergency warning system. Compatible phones may sound a loud siren and vibrate, even if they're silent.
For some people, it's important to know this alert is coming, particularly:
• People experiencing family and domestic violence or coercive control
• People using a secondary or "safe" phone
• Young people with personal mobile phones
• People with sensory sensitivities
📱 If the alert could affect your safety, wellbeing or privacy, consider:
• Turning your device off before the test, or
• Switching your device to airplane mode before 12:00pm AWST on 27 July

It’s been a big start to NAIDOC Week 2026 at Outcare — and we’re only just getting started!
This year’s national theme,”50 Years of Deadly,” celebrates five decades of NAIDOC Week as a platform for truth-telling, cultural pride, resilience, leadership and community connection.
While our commitment to cultural safety, reconciliation and working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continues all year round, NAIDOC Week provides a special opportunity to amplify these conversations, share resources, celebrate culture and deepen connections within the communities we’re privileged to be part of.
On Saturday 4th July, Outcare was proud to sponsor and attend the Southern Aboriginal Corporation NAIDOC Ball in Albany, celebrating the achievements, leadership and contributions of Aboriginal people across the Great Southern and beyond.
Our Executive Leadership Team attended alongside our valued partner Dennis Simmons from Maar Koodjal. On behalf of Outcare, Managing Director - David Cain proudly presented the Sportsperson of the Year Award to Cheri Hicks, recognising her contribution to supporting and inspiring young athletes through sport and leadership.
On Sunday 5th July, our team was out in full force at the Perth NAIDOC Opening Ceremony at Moort-ak Waadiny (Wellington Square), connecting with community, sharing information about Outcare and celebrating culture together.
This year, we’re proudly wearing our new Outcare Aboriginal Art T-shirts, featuring artwork specially commissioned by Kieron Pearce. So if you see our team out and about in community this week, be sure to come and say hello — we’d love to have a yarn, hear your story and celebrate 50 Years of Deadly together. ❤️💛🖤
