We make our own cookies now.

It didn’t start well…

It started off about as well as a cat-herding championship final in a room full of laser pointers.

What better way to create a product range than to throw it at paying customers and let them berate you until you get it right?

Nothing inspires you to bake better than driving back to the kitchen in tears, smushing unsellable returned cookie crumbs into your gob. (Shut up, you’re crying!).

During the first couple of months, our cookies kept falling apart… like our egos.

Copious refunds were followed by constant tweaking, tinkering, and tasting—with mild acid reflux. (Yep, we’re in our 30s.)

We named this brand Doh Doh because we knew we’d make lots of mistakes and probably say the word “Doh!” a lot (or worse). Or we’d get it so wrong we’d go bust and be as dead as a DoDo. 🦤

Because these are handmade, big, chunky, lumpy-bumpy cookies with no extra-rubbish added, getting mixing and baking integrity correct across multiple flavours was a challenge and a half. 😅

We worked round the 12-hour clock and, slowly but surely, we kept improving them and reduced issues by 98.562% (made that stat up).

Anyway… now they’re pretty good.

“Oi! Your orange juice tastes different!”

- yelled an old lady from the side of Marmion.

After being shouted at, we thought to address the harsh world of OJ.

Other than the angry elderly, our wholesale customers also ask why certain batches of our fresh cold pressed juices by change throughout the year.

Orange juice can actually have one of the most diverse taste ranges in our line-up of flavours.

Wow! Am I right?

As the seasons change, so does the availability of local produce around Perth.

The great thing about our little corner of the world is that we have the best of both.

We have Valencias and Navels.

But, there are differences…

Orange type 1:

🍊Valencias - “Summer oranges”.

🗓️When: Nov - April.

These sun-kissed classics are juicy, sweet, and pack a tickle of tartness.

Known to be refreshingly tangy and often featured on the front cover of “OnlyFruits” as the ‘Go-to OJ Orange’.

For most of the year, our Valencias come from farms close to home, namely Gin-Gin which is roughly 1 hour north of Perth.

Orange type 2:

🍊Navels - “Winter oranges”.

🗓️When: April - Nov.

Navels get a tough time, but they’re absolutely delicious.

They’re personally our favourite variety when it comes to juicing. Often used in food due to their sweet-sweet sweetness, they have a gorgeously rich flavour.

The first fruit picked from the tree can pack a tangy slap, but for the most part, their acidity mellows out. What they lack in tang, they make up for in sweetness, and that is what we love.

Plus, we have no choice.

👨‍⚖️ So, depending on the season, availability and whether or not there was enough rain last winter… you get what you are given!

And that’s the beauty of fresh juice. 🤩

No closures over public holidays. We’re still at it. 😘🚚
