The Albanese Government encourages young Australians to learn languages and cultures as an investment in Australia’s future. Through the New Colombo Plan, it supports priority Asian language learning, longer immersive experiences, and deeper engagement with Indonesia.
This aligns with Acicis’ mission: authentic experiences in Indonesia, friendships and professional connections, new perspectives, and assumptions challenged.
"Experiencing Indonesia: 30 Years of ACICIS" brings together 30 years of stories, reflections and research on how in-country experience strengthens Australia’s Indonesia capability.

It's a wrap!
On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, Acicis and UGM’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) collaborated with 27 host organisations to hold NGO Fair 2026!
This year’s NGO Fair brought together a diverse range of host organisations working in fields such as gender, the environment, wildlife, law, education, health, and more. The enthusiasm for this event was clearly evident, not only from the creativity shown by the participating organisations in decorating their stands and offering active and participatory activities, but also from the constant stream of visitors.
A huge thank you to all participating organisations and everyone who joined us at NGO Fair💙

Meet Jorja Connolly, an RMIT student who took Acicis International Relations Program (IRP) at Universitas Parahyangan.
Being half-Indonesian, Jorja had visited Indonesia many times growing up, but studying and living in Indonesia as a student, not a visitor, gave her a completely different perspective.
