🧡 TETTY UPDATE OUR LITTLE FIGHTER 🧡

We think it’s safe to say that Tetty has stolen a few hearts.

His last reel has reached almost 2 MILLION views on fb alone, which is absolutely insane. So many of you have been following his story, checking in on him, sharing and waiting for the next update, so here it is. 🥹

Our boy is still fighting, and he’s making progress.

Today Tetty got to spend some time outside enjoying the Melbourne sunshine, and honestly… just look at that face. ☀️🧡

He still doesn’t have good use of his front legs, which continue to be the biggest hurdle in his recovery from tetanus. His front left leg is currently the worst affected, and when he stands, he tends to favour his front right.

But there are some really encouraging little wins.

Tetty is trying to walk when supported and can now stand completely unassisted for short periods of time. He’s also able to get his back legs underneath himself in his kennel and push himself up into what the vets have described as a little “downward dog” position.

His front legs are still extremely stiff, so we know there is a way to go yet, but considering where this little guy started, we will celebrate every single bit of progress. 🥹

Tetty was supposed to make one final trip from Melbourne to Perth with the rest of his siblings. Instead, tetanus landed him in hospital fighting for his life.

And now he’s standing.

Not for long. Not perfectly.

But he’s standing. 🧡

🏡 MELBOURNE FOSTER NEEDED FROM THIS FRIDAY

As Tetty moves into the next stage of his recovery, we are putting the call out for a special foster carer in or around Melbourne who is be able to care for him from this Friday (duration unknown).

Given Tetty’s condition and ongoing recovery, we are specifically looking for an experienced foster who is confident providing the level of care, patience and supervision this little man will need.

If you are in Melbourne or the surrounding area, have suitable fostering experience and genuinely feel you could give Tetty the safe and supportive environment he needs while he continues to recover, please reach out to Perth Dingo Rescue.

Send us a message and we can provide you with a foster application form. Please also include a little bit about yourself, your experience, your home environment and any animals currently in your care.

We’ll be carefully assessing applications to make sure we find the right fit for him.

We’re officially opening applications for four very special young dingoes currently in the care of Perth Dingo Rescue foster carers.

Three are from our Nymboida 9 litter, who made the enormous journey across to WA, and one is our beautiful wildborn girl, Looma.

As always, we are looking for the right homes, not simply the first homes.

Dingoes are incredibly intelligent, sensitive and unique animals, and adopting one is very different from bringing home a domestic dog. We want applicants who understand that commitment and are prepared to provide the security, enrichment, companionship and management they require throughout their lives.

⚠️ A few important things before applying:

All PDR dingoes are required to be desexed, puppy vaxxed and chipped as part of our adoption requirements.

Where applicants are looking to adopt a pair, we will only consider male/female pairings. We will not accept applications requesting a same-sex pair.

Our adoption process includes an application and suitability assessment, and additional requirements may apply depending on the individual dingo and home environment. Applications are not first come, first served, each pup will be matched according to their individual needs and the most suitable home.

These four have already had quite the beginning to life. Now we’re looking for the people who can give them the stability, understanding and commitment they deserve for everything that comes next. 🧡

UPDATE ON NUMBER NINE, TETTY ❤️‍🩹

We finally have the kind of Tetty update we have been desperately waiting to share. 🥹

Our little fighter is improving.

Tetty’s vet team is really happy with his progress and, most importantly, we are starting to see a noticeable improvement in his stiffness.

After watching this little boy become so rigid that he completely lost the ability to stand, seeing some of that tension finally begin to ease is huge.

For those following Tetty’s journey, tetanus works in a pretty horrible way.

Normally, our nerves send signals telling our muscles when to contract and when to relax. The tetanus toxin interferes with the signals that tell the muscles to relax, so those muscles essentially become stuck switched “on”, causing the extreme stiffness and rigidity we have seen in Tetty.

Unfortunately, once those nerve endings have been affected, antibiotics can’t simply reverse the damage. His body needs time to create new nerve endings and pathways so those messages can begin getting through again.

And now, we are finally seeing signs that this is happening. ❤️

Little by little, his body is starting to relax.

After everything he has been through, his vets being happy with his progress has given us so much hope that Tetty is finding his way out the other side of this.

But he’s not home yet.

And this is where we still desperately need your help.

Every extra day Tetty’s little body needs to repair itself means another day of veterinary care, nursing, nutritional support and hospitalisation.

They have bought Tetty the time his body needed to get this far.

Now we need to give him the time he needs to finish the fight and finally make the journey home.

Michaela and Karen have been absolute superstars behind the scenes, collecting donations, reaching out to their community, and coordinating rescue packs full of goodies and supplies to help organisations like ours.

And when we say they helped us out… they REALLY helped us out. 🧡

There is so much time, organising and effort that goes into pulling something like this together, and knowing there are people out there actively rallying their community to help rescues like ours honestly means the world.

A huge thank you also goes to Linda, who very generously donated her chest freezers worth of raw to our little rescue to help keep those hungry pupperino’s well fed. 🐾

Being a small, volunteer-run rescue means every single donation genuinely makes a difference. Food, bedding, treats, toys, supplies, all those everyday things add up very quickly when you have a bunch of dingoes depending on you!

Every item donated is something we don’t have to purchase ourselves, which means those funds can instead go towards vet bills, transport, rehabilitation and, inevitably, whatever unexpected adventure the dingoes decide to throw at us next.

Rescue really does take a village, and somehow ours just keeps filling up with some pretty wonderful humans.

🧡 JIWARRA & LOOMA UPDATE 🧡

Remember these two little faces? 🥹

Jiwarra and Looma came into our care after one very memorable rescue mission to Karratha, where we found ourselves facing every rescuer’s nightmare: parvo.

They were tiny, vulnerable little pups with a very uncertain road ahead of them.

Fast forward to now and… LOOK AT THEM. 😭🧡

They are growing like little weeds, getting bigger by the day and, most importantly, doing incredibly well.

Yesterday the pair headed in for a health check and to finally get their microchips. We’d noticed some skin changes that had us concerned they may have picked up ringworm, so we treated them until we could get them to the vet amongst the chaos, naturally we wanted to get them checked properly rather than take any chances.

And we got the best kind of vet visit…

✨ Everything came back normal! ✨

Two healthy, happy, rapidly growing troublemakers who apparently just wanted to give us another reason to worry. 😂

After everything these two have been through in their short lives, seeing them thriving like this is pretty flippin’ special.

From an enormous rescue drive, to parvo, isolation, treatment and all the worry that came with it… to watching them grow into these beautiful youngsters with their whole lives ahead of them.

This is why we do it. 🧡

Jiwarra and Looma still have plenty of growing, they’re only 7ish kg each and undoubtedly plenty of mischief left to do, but this was a little milestone worth celebrating.

Our Karratha babies aren’t such little babies anymore. 🥹🐾

Happy, healthy, microchipped and thriving.

We think they scrub up pretty well, don’t you? 🧡

🚨 URGENT FUNDRAISER ‼️ HELP US BRING NUMBER NINE HOME 🚨

Nine puppies were meant to make it to Perth.

Eight made it.

One is still fighting for his life more than 2,000km away from us. 💔

This is not the update we thought we would be sharing.

This little boy is one of nine puppies recently rescued from Nymboida, NSW, where he and his family had been living confined in a cage.

When they came into rescue, we thought the hardest part was over.

They were safe.

After weeks of organising, coordinating and fundraising, we finally began the enormous journey of bringing all nine puppies across the country to Perth Dingo Rescue.

We were ready to welcome nine.

But only eight arrived.

After the first leg of his journey, during the stopover in Melbourne, this little boy was found critically unwell, foaming at the mouth, severely rigid and rapidly losing his ability to stand.

Instead of boarding the next flight home to Perth, he was rushed straight to a Melbourne veterinary hospital.

Ticks were found on him, initially raising serious concerns about paralysis tick. However, his profound muscle rigidity and neurological symptoms have led his veterinary team to believe that tetanus is currently the most likely diagnosis.

Within hours, he went from being rigid but standing…

to completely unable to stand at all.

He is now lying in a veterinary hospital thousands of kilometres away from the people waiting to bring him home.

But there is something incredibly important we need you to know:

He is still fighting.

He is conscious. He is being closely monitored. He has been receiving IV fluids, antibiotics and supportive veterinary care.

And while he continues to fight, we will fight alongside him.

Unfortunately, tetanus isn’t something that simply disappears once antibiotics are started. Recovery can be painfully slow, and his little body may need weeks of intensive nursing, nutritional support and hospitalisation to give him the chance to recover.

His veterinary bill has already reached $1,453.52.

His vets now want to place a feeding tube under general anaesthetic, estimated at a further $975.65, because right now he cannot safely meet his nutritional needs himself.

After that, hospitalisation is expected to cost approximately $400 every single day.

If he requires three weeks of care, we could very quickly be facing $10,000+ in veterinary costs.

And this emergency hasn’t happened in isolation.

Our incredible community recently helped us raise approximately $2,500 profit through our Quiz Night, money we were so incredibly grateful for and proud to have raised.

That money has gone straight back out the door towards the flight and transport costs of getting these puppies across the country to safety.

And just like that, we’re back at square one.

Meanwhile, rescue doesn’t stop.

Our regular veterinary accounts continue to mount across our other clinics, vaccinations, desexing, medications, routine treatment and the everyday veterinary care for the dingoes already relying on us.

Then, in the middle of all of that, one tiny life crashed halfway across Australia.

For a small, volunteer-run rescue, this is enormous.

We don’t have a huge financial safety net.

We don’t have endless resources.

What we have is a little boy who is still fighting…

and a community that has helped us do impossible things before.

He made it out of that cage.

He made it out of Nymboida.

He made it through the first leg of a journey across Australia.

And when his little body began to fail halfway home, someone was there to notice.

We cannot give up on him now.

So today, we are asking our community to rally around us again.

Perth Dingo Rescue is a small not-for-profit organisation run by unpaid volunteers. Behind this rescue are ordinary people with jobs, families and commitments who give every bit of time we can to these animals.

Sometimes rescue is beautiful.

Sometimes it’s watching eight puppies finally arrive safely and thinking, we did it.

And sometimes it’s realising that there should have been nine.

We don’t know what the coming days will bring.

We don’t know how long his recovery could take or what his final veterinary bill will look like.

But we do know one thing.

He hasn’t stopped fighting.
