Hon Bill Shorten Minister for National Disability Insurance Agency announced

“ Today I’m thrilled to announce that Australian Paralympic legend and disability advocate Kurt Fearnley AO will be the new chair of the board of the National Disability Insurance Agency.

I can also announce the appointment of new board members Dr Graeme Innes AM and Ms Maryanne Diamond AO as well as the reappointment of former chair Dr Denis Napthine AO. There are now five people with disability on the NDIA board, the largest number in its history.

Rebecca Falkingham will become the first female permanent CEO in the NDIA’s history. I look forward to working with her to create the best NDIS for all participants.

I made a promise before the election to prioritise putting people with lived experience of disability back at the centre of the scheme and these appointments deliver on that promise. “

This week, from September 19th to September 25th, is International Week of Deaf People; an event that is celebrated by the global Deaf community to commemorate the first World Congress of the Week of Deaf people.👂

This week, it is essential for us to raise awareness of the rights of the Deaf community and to inspire cooperation among them and their allies. At FFG, we believe it is critical to encourage inclusivity and educate people about various different communities. 🦻❤️
