Another year of the Yr 9 Dance Challenge at is fully underway!

The fun thing about this year is meeting boys that did our program in Junior School again.

💫 Introducing our PD Guests: Rachael Bott 💫

Rachael has been performing, choreographing and teaching dance and movement for the last 25 years. Since completing a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) at WAAPA she has been part of a diverse range of projects both in Australia and overseas.

Her performance career includes works with Buzz Dance Theatre, Steamworks Arts Productions, Sue Peacock, Paea Leach, and Leigh Warren; performing in festivals such as Beijing Dance Festival, Shanghai International Arts Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Artrage and Dancers are Space Eaters.

Rachael has created work for both young people and professionals, and enjoys teaching across a range of experiences and ages; including mentoring and professional development for both generalist and specialist teachers.

Since 2015 Rachael has been Director of Creative Moves WA – a company delivering creative dance programs in schools and community organisations.

Rachael is passionate about creative learning and the potential for dance to be used as a tool to engage and synthesise learning.

Fun times at this morning for their School Holiday Program.

Fun day yesterday with some Year 6 students at in Dawesville.

We played with ideas that they will be developing into a YOHFest item that will be performed in Term 4.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Back in Leonora to help with their end of year concert.

So nice to see lots of familiar faces that are excited to get up on stage again next week.

As part of this year’s ACHPER WA State Conference, Ausdance WA were invited to present some tools and tips aimed at health and physical education teachers. We invited Kate Buchan (Dance etc. & MoveDu) and Rachael Bott (Creative Moves WA) to deliver two dynamic taster workshops in dance, movement and creativity for primary dance education, and they did a fabulous job! Thank you to everyone who attended!

Spent the morning with a great group of kids as part of the School Holiday Program.

They learnt the basics of Jazz & Contemporary and made their own group dances in each genre.
