Congratulations Marlene, on 10 years with Structerre!

Today we are celebrating Marlene, on a wonderful 10 years with our Mitcham team! Over the past decade, Marlene has established herself as an outstanding engineer, combining her wealth of experience with a genuine dedication to supporting those around her. She has built fantastic relationships with our clients and is always willing to share her knowledge, support her colleagues and mentor the next generation of junior engineers. We’re incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed over the past 10 years.

If you know Marlene, you’ll know she LOVES pink! 💕 Her desk is a pretty strong indication of that, with almost everything pink – including her very own personal teapot 🫖 💖 Marlene is also one of our go-to people for advice on where to eat around the office! She clearly knows a thing or two about style too - for her 30th birthday, Marlene treated herself to the most stylish pair of Gucci sneakers, which she is still rocking today!

Congratulations again, Marlene! Thank you for your dedication and here’s to 10 fantastic years!

Celebrating excellence across WA’s development industry 🏆

On Saturday night, members of the Structerre team joined industry colleagues at the 2026 UDIA WA Awards for Excellence, celebrating the projects, organisations and people helping shape communities across Western Australia.

Structerre was pleased to support this year’s awards as Category Sponsor of two important categories: Affordable Housing and Local Government Authority of the Year.

Congratulations to The HMO Property Co winner of the Affordable Housing category for The HMO Coliving Model – Jacqueline Street, Bayswater, and to the City of Wanneroo named Local Government Authority of the Year.

It was a fantastic evening celebrating innovation, achievement and the work being delivered across WA’s development industry.

Celebrating our WA 10 Year Club! 🎉

Each year, we bring together our WA team members who have reached 10 or more years with Structerre for our annual 10 Year Club lunch.

With more than 30 employees now part of the WA club, this year's lunch was another great opportunity to recognise the people who have contributed so much to Structerre over the years.

The annual lunch is a chance to step away from the day to day, catch up with long-standing colleagues and celebrate the experience, knowledge and commitment they continue to bring to our team.

Our 10 Year Club continues to grow across the country, and it's fantastic to see so many people building long careers with Structerre.

A great afternoon connecting with WA’s residential building industry!

Last week, some of the WA Structerre team joined clients, colleagues and industry partners at the 2026 Housing Industry Association - HIA WA Economic Outlook Lunch, which we were pleased to support as a Major Partner.

HIA Chief Economist Tim Reardon provided an insightful update on the outlook for housing, with a particularly positive message for Western Australia. Despite some of the challenges facing the industry, WA remains one of the strongest housing markets nationally, supported by a robust local economy and continued demand for new homes.

The panel discussion continued the conversation, exploring housing supply and some of the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of residential construction in WA.

It was a valuable afternoon of industry insight, great conversations and catching up with many familiar faces.

Compliance Inspections Support Better Communication

Construction projects involve many people, including designers, engineers, builders, supervisors, contractors and homeowners. Clear information is essential when decisions need to be made quickly and work needs to continue.

Compliance inspections help create that clarity.

An inspection provides a structured review of the work completed on site and compares it with the relevant engineering documentation, standards and construction requirements. The resulting report records what was observed, identifies any areas that may require attention and provides a useful reference for the project team.

This documentation can reduce uncertainty and help avoid conversations based on assumptions or incomplete information. Builders can clearly communicate what has been reviewed. Engineers can better understand site conditions. Homeowners have a record of important construction stages. Contractors can receive specific information about any items requiring further consideration.

The most effective inspections are coordinated with the construction program. They occur when the relevant work is complete enough to assess but before it becomes concealed or the next stage begins.

When inspection timing, communication and reporting are handled well, compliance inspections become part of the project workflow rather than an interruption to it.

Another Telethon Home complete! 🏡💙

Earlier this year, we shared that Structerre was once again contributing to this years Telethon7 Perth Home. Now, it's fantastic to see the finished home officially on the market and ready to welcome visitors.

Built by Blueprint Homes in Clementine Estate, Upper Swan, the 2026 Telethon Home represents an incredible collective effort from businesses across WA's residential building industry, with proceeds from its sale going directly to Telethon to support children and families across Western Australia.

Structerre was pleased to donate our site classification, retaining wall inspection, bushfire construction plan and structural certification services to the project, continuing a relationship with the Telethon Home that stretches back decades. Our records show Structerre’s involvement as far back as 1997, and it’s incredibly rewarding to continue contributing our expertise to such an important WA initiative almost 30 years later.

Congratulations to our client Blueprint Homes, Satterley and everyone who has contributed to bringing the 2026 Telethon Home to life. We're delighted to have played a small part in a project that will ultimately make a much bigger difference for WA children and families.

Did You Know?

The performance of a concrete slab depends on much more than the concrete itself.

Before the pour, important elements such as footing dimensions, reinforcement, mesh supports, vapour barriers and penetrations all need to be positioned correctly. Each plays a role in ensuring the slab performs as intended and reflects the approved engineering design.

A compliance inspection before concrete placement allows these details to be reviewed while they remain visible. Once the concrete is poured, much of the work beneath the surface can no longer be inspected.

Identifying any issues at this stage is far simpler than trying to address them after the slab has been completed. It also provides a documented record for the builder, project team and homeowner before construction moves to the next stage.

A finished slab may look like a single concrete surface, but its long-term performance relies on the work completed underneath it.

Another day, another training session!

We recently welcomed the Home Group WA construction team back to our Balcatta office for another training session with Structerre, this time focusing on roof framing.

Hosted by Shane, the session brought together some Home Group WA staff to explore the topic in more detail, ask questions and build their understanding of the engineering considerations behind roof framing.

It was another great turnout and a valuable opportunity to share our technical knowledge beyond the day to day delivery of projects.

Providing education, training and ongoing support is an important part of how we work with our clients, helping strengthen relationships and share knowledge that can support better outcomes on site.
