This FRIDAY DROP our pick is the debut LP from Westside Cowboy, IT GOES ON!

The Manchester-based four-piece Westside Cowboy shed some of their earlier country influences, focusing instead on tightly wound indie rock and sharp, thoughtful songwriting. Compared to much contemporary indie rock, It Goes On is markedly naked, devoid of effects that might muddle the band’s raw onstage chemistry. When they broke through last year, the Manchester band’s cut-and-dried alt-rock looked easy, soothing, and natural. With It Goes On, though, they’ve roughened themselves up, and in the process have gotten just a little closer to knowing who they are. If you’re a fan of 90’s Indie Rock acts like Pavement or Modest Mouse, they’re certainly worth keeping on your radar!

Lots and lots and lots of new things in this week, from new releases like Alex Warren’s WILDCHILD and Chat Pile's Who Loves The Sun, to soundtracks such as Persona covered by the Blueshift Big Band and The Simpsons: Songs In The Key of Springfield. We have 21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode, the latest Ezra Collective LP Here Because Of Hope, a 10th Anniversary remaster of Post Malone’s first ever mixtape, a whole lot of Taeko Onuki deep cuts, a Japanese edition of Avengers: Endgame, a 25th Anniversary Picture Disc of the Shrek score, the posthumous Prince album Timeless, and so many more goodies! We’ve also got a big restock on your favourites such as the newest Steve Lacy and Phoebe Bridgers, Avatar Book Of Fire Soundtrack, Tracy Chapman, Jack White, Hilary Duff, and so much more that you can check out yourself in-store or online at Midland Records!

Aaaand we're back with another SATURDAY CD DROP! This weeks pick is The Drones’ classic HAVILAH!

After forming in Perth three decades ago, they return THIS WEEKEND ONLY for the first time in years to play at the Rechabite - this band MUST be seen live! But if you can't make it for whatever reason, might as well snag this beauty on CD. Gareth Liddiard's jagged lyrical barbs are plentiful and offer up harsh truths, and the man sings like his life depends on it. So whether you’re their biggest fan or a newcomer, this one is essential listening!

The CD shelves are once again filled to the brim! We’ve got new releases from Arab Strap, Angus & Julia Stone, Amyl And The Sniffers, Alabama Shakes, Mike D (of Beastie Boys), and reissues of old favourites from Queen, Black Sabbath, George Harrison, Hella, Thievery Corporation, Kero Kero Bonito and so much more! Be sure to see it all and more for yourself either in store or under our CD section on the Midland Records web-store!

Happy Friday folks! Our pick for this FRIDAY DROP goes to Phoebe Bridgers LOST WEEKEND!

Lost Weekend is an album that, from the first song to the last, has a way of making you feel it’s 3am and you’re driving nowhere. It’s lush layering of synthesizers, sound effects, and melodies blend almost perfectly into a sound that is as lovely as it is goosebump worthy. For what is a quintessential Indie Folk album, Bridgers doesn’t feel confined to that specific genre alone, and her long awaited return feels like another sincere peek behind the curtains. Certainly THE Album of the Winter (okay so it doesn’t have a ring like Album Of The Summer), so be sure to pick one up before the season passes!

Coming off of preorder is the official soundtrack to The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, marking the first time a Nintendo soundtrack has been commercially released on vinyl outside of Japan! Available both as a 2LP and as an 8LP Box Set that spans 4 hours of pure bliss! New releases o’plenty including slacker rock legends Dinosaur Jr’s There Near, Angus & Julia Stone’s latest Karaoke Bar, two live albums in Pulp’s Live! and Amyl And The Sniffers’ Truth Or Consequence, Arab Strap’s ninth LP Half-Told Tales, Sam Smith’s Hazel Eyes, Ty Segall’s Chrome, and more! We also got some not-so-new releases from Mos Def, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Happy Mondays, Wisp, The Cardigans, Jello Biafra, Dead Meadow, Nomeansno, Pentagram, CSS, Loathe, and so much more! A restock as well of the all four Deltarune Chapters, the Microphones The Glow Pt. 2 and other Mount Eerie releases, Oklou’s choke enough, Geordie Greep’s The New Sound, Jungle’s Sunshine, and so much more! So what are you waiting for? Come on down to Midland Records this weekend and check at the web-store for even more releases!

Spring is in the air, so to celebrate the coming season our pick for this week’s FRIDAY DROP is J-Pop legend Hikaru Utada’s EXODUS!

Coming quickly after Hikaru's last record, Deep River, this album marks their attempt to break into the American market after gaining some international recognition, partly due to their ties to the Nintendo classic Kingdom Hearts. It’s entirely in English and almost exclusively produced by super-producer Timbaland. The (very 2000s) title track, Exodus '04, showcases how naturally Utada fits into that era’s U.S. pop sound. So get ready for the new season with this glitch-pop classic!

Fresh this week is 2 new arrivals from Casiopea: Platinum and a live compilation aptly named Recorded Live and Best. We’ve also got The Piano Collection box set for Undertale, Interpol’s newest release This Mirror Weighs A Ton, the 10th Anniversary Edition of Pup’s The Dream Is Over, Deluxe variants of Paul Kelly’s Seventy and Gossip, and a whole lot King Crimson LPs, Pulp, Now Compilations, and plenty more. There’s of course a ton of restocks, including Steve Lacy’s Oh Yeah?, the Australian exclusive hot pink variant of TV Girl’s Who Really Cares?, Volume 1 (and for the first time, Volume 2) of the Bloodborne Soundtrack, and so much more! Check it out either in person or on the web at Midland Records!
