I am proud to have been featured in the latest edition of the WA Police Union, Police News Magazine.

Over the past twelve months, I have become increasingly aware of the number of former and serving WA Police Officers who have been failed or abandoned by our Government and specifically the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA).

After a serious crash which almost killed me in 2004, and having endured a brutal seven years of agonising rehabilitation, I was presented with a promise by ICWA in 2012, that I would be able to access Post Service Medical (PSM) entitlements, if I ever chose to leave the WA Police Force.

Fourteen years later, after having paid $135,000.00 for my own medical costs, I decided to make a claim only to be told I was not entitled to PSM!

Since then, I have been inundated with similar stories from those who have spent their lives serving this state. Officers who have been thrown on a trash heap, being forced to pay their own medical costs for a work related injury. Many of these officers are broken both physically and emotionally. It is heartbreaking!

Such officers and their families have been failed by successive governments who have refused to act, and failed by the current Commissioner of Police, and former Commissioners as well as the WAPOL Executive.

Many of these officers are gagged. As such, I am prepared to be their voice. My story and those of others need to be told. The community needs to hear what happens to those who are damaged by the work they do. Members of the public must understand how broken officers are being treated by the Government.

They are being abandoned and that abandonment is causing even more harm. In many instances, it is killing them!

Who will act? Reece Whitby MLA, Roger Cook Adam Hort MLA, WA Labor, Liberals WA, Pauline Hanson's Please Explain, One Nation Party??

We have 2.5 years until the next state election. This is more than enough time for me to show how deep this damage goes and exactly how it is occurring. Plenty of time to expose exactly who has been allowing this to happen!

Enough is Enough!

Tonight, we're shining bright to mark WA Police Remembrance Day 💙🚔

We stand with the WA Police Union to remember the brave police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the people of Western Australia.

Behind every badge is a person who answered the call to serve their community. For some, that commitment came at the highest possible cost. Their courage, dedication and selflessness will never be forgotten.

We honour the families, friends and colleagues who continue to carry their memory. Their sacrifice is part of our history, our culture and our responsibility to remember.

This morning, we laid flowers at the WA Police Academy in memory of the officers who gave their lives protecting our community.
They served with courage. They protected others. They are never forgotten.
Today, on Police Remembrance Day, we honour their sacrifice and the families, friends and colleagues who continue to carry their memory.
If you see a building lit blue tonight, take a moment to remember why. 💙

Today, 29 September, we pause to honour the Western Australian police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
We remember their courage, their service and the commitment they made to protect our community.

We also remember the families, friends and colleagues who continue to carry their loss. Their sacrifice is not forgotten, and their memory remains part of the WA Police family.

Today, and every day, we remember.

“It is fantastic to see investment going into the police academy. Our recruits deserve modern facilities and a safe environment in which to train.”
“But if we are investing millions of dollars into upgrading the academy, why wouldn’t we take the opportunity to address the security concerns that have been raised for years?”
Our Police Academy is where future officers learn the skills, discipline and professionalism needed to serve and protect the community. It should also be a secure environment for recruits, staff and those training on site.
WAPU believes any potential security vulnerabilities at a police training facility must be taken seriously. The safety of recruits, trainers and police staff cannot be compromised.

‘Insecure’: Calls for greater security at WA Police Academy The WA Police Union has raised concerns over public access to the WA Police Academy in Joondalup.

Why should you care?
Because if your boss asked you to work Christmas Day, New Year's Day or Easter Sunday, you'd probably expect a little extra in your pay packet.
WA police officers don't.
While most people are enjoying a public holiday with family and friends, police are responding to crashes, family violence incidents, assaults, missing persons and emergencies.
They're missing birthdays, barbecues, school holidays and precious family moments to keep the community safe.
This isn't about special treatment.
It's about fair treatment.
If you think the people who work when everyone else has the day off deserve fair recognition, sign the petition.

Sign the Petition Give WA Police Extra Pay for Working Public Holidays

🏠 Housing pressures are putting South West policing under strain.

For police officers working in the South West, finding an affordable place to live is becoming increasingly difficult.
That is not just a housing issue. It is a workforce issue, a regional policing issue and ultimately a community safety issue.

The WA Police Union is calling on the State Government to recognise the growing challenges facing officers in the region and take meaningful action to help make regional policing sustainable.
Our Members should not have to choose between serving their community and being able to afford to live in it.

As housing costs continue to rise, we need practical solutions that support police officers to live and work in the communities they serve.

📍 The South West deserves a police workforce that is supported, sustainable and able to stay.
