Week 3 of How To Be Well Goes Rural š
And just like that, Week 3 and the tour is wrapped up.
This week has been another reminder of why taking mental health conversations beyond the city matters so much.
Working mostly in mining towns including schools and the local community, Iāve had the opportunity to connect with people across regional WA, have honest conversations about mental health and wellbeing, and create spaces where people can talk, ask questions and simply feel heard.
One of the biggest things Iāve taken away from the tour is that people are still desperate for support, theyāre asking for it, and they need it.
Iām incredibly grateful to every person, organisation, school and community that has welcomed How To Be Well Goes Rural over the past few weeks.
This tour has covered thousands of kilometres, but the conversations and connections along the way have made every kilometre worth it.
Mental health support should be accessible wherever you live.

Big feelings make me tired š„ŗ
Week 2 of the How To Be Well Goes Rural tour has been all about connection, conversations and creating spaces where mental health can be talked about openly. We hit both the most remote town of the tour, and most northern.
As weāve continued travelling through regional WA, Iāve had the opportunity to connect with young people, community members, schools and local organisations, hearing about the realities of mental health in regional communities and the different ways people support themselves and each other.
From workshops and conversations at our Mindful Art event in Broome, to one on one conversations in the community and with health-care workers, there have been so many little moments that have reminded me why this tour matters.
Thereās still more to come as we continue making our way through WA.

See you for the final week, as we make our way back down to Perth!

Your pets donāt know or care what youāre saying to them, but they can definitely pretend theyāre listening. Sometimes itās just about learning to take your emotions/feelings from your mind and into words.
Honestly, this was one of the hardest things for me to learn. Wth is emotional expression, and how do I even interpret whatās in my mind so someone else understands. So instead, I sat outside and tried to speak to my dog or my cat. They still loved me afterwards, and I was able to have an outlet to make sense of the chaos in my mind. If the jump feels super big at the moment, start smaller. Itās okay to build things up š§”
My anxiety controlled me. Until I learnt to control it. Remember, just because you think it, doesnāt make it true. You are capable of so much more than you know š

Divas hitting the course. My 5th hyrox race and proud of the girlies.
Guys I know Hyrox gets a lot of slander but Iāve never regretted being a part of it.
Okay this one was MAJOR. I stood up in front of over 1,000 school students and shared my journey for the Zero 2 Hero in your head youth forum, not once, but TWICE.
A big comfort zone test, but Iām glad Iāve learnt to step out of it. Little Lily who couldnāt even stand up in front of her class would be so proud š„¹
My FAM.
Blessed to have this community in my life. How amazing are they to all come together to make my dreams come true. I certainly couldnāt of made the rural tour possible without them š
ICYMI: around 1 month ago I set myself the goal to send one BIG email a day. This could be to people Iām inspired by, big organisations, collaboration proposals, or even publishers⦠essentially to people that seem to be a very far reach. There are 2 reasons why I decided to do this:
1. I was noticing I was holding myself back with imposter syndrome, I was talking myself out of a lot of opportunities because I didnāt feel āgood enoughā I want to challenge this mindset I have and become my own biggest fan.
2. Sometimes, no one knows you exist until you make yourself known. So I want to put my name out there as much as possible. In hopes to create new and exciting opportunities for the growth of How To Be Well. This is my passion and I want to make it a full time reality.
So far responses are very limited: but this is only the beginning. I have 340 more emails to go! š§š¤
MEET HOW TO BE WELL GOES RURAL TEAM.
We are officially half way through the tour so I thought I may as well introduce you to whoās behind it.
Yes⦠itās a 2 man team, but we get the job done!
So grateful to have SHEP by my side through out this tour who gives up 4 weeks of his time to support me, and make this dream possible. I literally couldnāt do it without him & im so blessed he continues to be my number 1 fan.
SHEP youāre so cool. And thanks for making the executive decision that I needed to go to the hospital, and for booking my gp appointment, and driving endless hours to each new location. GOAT š
