Yesterday, our Senior Paediatric Physio John presented at the 2026 ABREAST Conference.
John discussed musculoskeletal conditions that can impact a baby and their ability to breastfeed. This included:
▫️Torticollis
▫️Plagiocephaly (flat head)
▫️Down Syndrome and babies born with low tone
▫️Cleft palate
▫️Congenital heart defects
▫️Tongue ties
Johns area of speciality is working with newborn infants and their parents who present with the above conditions. Part of his Masters at Monash University focussed on developing a screening tool for health practitioners to aid in the diagnosis and therefore early intervention treatment of babies with these conditions.
Well done John! Your experience and expertise is invaluable in our clinic.
