We are an Australian/Papua New Guinean NGO, working in partnership with remote villages in Papua New Guinea to advance maternal health and community resilience.
It might come as a surprise to some of you, but our entire team gets involved in Bird Watching on our trips down the Sepik River. Carols love of birds is contagious. Even the soldiers (who often travel alongside us on outreach trips), are now bird watching enthusiasts. Bird watching is a form of mindfulness, very relaxing! Stay tuned to our page for future bird watching content.
Back in May when the rain was around. Sitting this far back in the troopy on the road to Angoram means you cannot talk because the air is literally bounced out of your lungs 😂
The beautiful Sepik River, critical to life and work in the remote areas. A snippet of photos from earlier this year.

The water level is very low. El Niño is really impacting the remote communities. Living Child are prioritising WASH and finding solutions to get water into our tanks. We would be grateful for your support.

Did you know that almost all of the photos and drone footage shared on our page are captured by Don Kainjuxzs Photography. Don is exceptionally talented and a very important part of our team. Thank you Don for all you do for Living Child.
Photography is very special to us. Our Chairman Greg Low is a world renowned videographer and photographer, having travelled and photographed in over 140 countries.
The children playing and drinking from the river is an important reminder of how critical this water is to life in the remote areas, and how it should always be protected.

Our Care Group volunteers are amazing role models in their communities! 💪
We recently surveyed them to find out what they had learnt through our training on handwashing, nutrition and breastfeeding, and what changes they had noticed in their communities through the program.
Not only did the volunteers collectively achieve 95% on the knowledge component, they also all reported observing more households washing their hands, villages looking cleaner and tidier, more people talking about health, and families eating more nutritious food. When asked whether the program was making a positive difference in their village, 100% of volunteers responded with yes!
These outcomes are proof of the importance of empowering women to lead change in their own communities. 🩵

Its been a busy week for Team LC at the East Sepik Provincial Health Authority-ESPHA Mid-Term Review Workshop in Wewak! 👏
The workshop has been a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with partners and friends, learn about the important work happening across East Sepik Province, and share updates from our programs in the Keram LLG.
Strong partnerships are at the heart of everything we do, and we are grateful to work alongside ESPHA and so many dedicated organisations committed to improving the health and wellbeing of communities across Papua New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea is currently experiencing extreme weather events triggered by El Niño. 🌏
Our team recently partnered with the PNG Defence Force to carry out awareness sessions with communities in the Keram LLG. As part of this outreach, the PNGDF also conducted rapid needs assessments of the surrounding areas.
Community-led preparedness, backed by strong partnerships, is key to building resilience. 💧🌦️
