After needling, I don’t automatically put you under red, yellow or infrared LED just because your skin is red and we want to calm it down.

And there’s a reason. 👇

First, we need to understand what medical microneedling is actually doing.

Medical microneedling uses medical-grade stainless-steel needles to create controlled micro-injuries within the skin.

This deliberately triggers a controlled wound-healing and inflammatory response.

Your skin then releases important signalling molecules, including growth factors and cytokines, which act like chemical messengers telling cells:

💪 Support collagen production
🔄 Remodel the skin

That inflammatory phase is part of the treatment we’ve deliberately created.

Red, yellow and near-infrared wavelengths are fantastic modalities when that’s what I want your skin to do — but immediately after needling, my treatment protocol is different.

I want to allow that initial wound-healing response to do its job rather than automatically trying to suppress it.

I may use blue LED immediately post-needling when appropriate — particularly with acne-prone skin — without using the longer wavelengths specifically intended to calm and modulate that inflammatory response.

And no, that doesn’t mean I don’t love red LED.

I LOVE LED.

It’s simply about understanding WHEN to use a modality and WHY you’re using it.

More treatments stacked together doesn’t automatically mean better results.

Sometimes good skin therapy is knowing exactly what to add…

and what NOT to add.😉

That’s the difference between simply performing skin needling and understanding the biological response we’re trying to achieve.
