Trev and his dragonπ
Trevor has been a familiar face at the Rise Arts Hub for over four years, and his latest creation is this vibrant wood-burned dragon.
Trev enjoys the art as much as the company β he's always keen for a chat with fellow members, and he loves making pieces to share with his friends and family.

π Today is Wear it Purple Day!
This year's theme, Colours of Courage, is a reminder that bravery doesn't always look loud.
At Rise, we're proud to stand with our LGBTIQA+ team members, the people we support, and their families. Their courage, quiet and loud, helps shape a Rise that's safer, more welcoming, and more inclusive for everyone.
However you're marking the day, whether it's a purple shirt, a purple lanyard, or just starting a conversation, thank you for showing up for our rainbow community.

𧑠Rise Community Comes Together Ahead of Homelessness Week
A huge thank you to everyone who got behind this year's Homelessness Week Donation Drive. Ahead of the official week, our team showed incredible generosity, donating food, toiletries, clothing and other essentials to support people in our community who are experiencing homelessness or doing it tough.
A special mention to our Rivers Peer Advisory Group (part of our mental health support program), who donated food and spent hours hand-knitting beanies for people sleeping rough - made with real care, and ready to make a difference as the weather turns colder.
Seeds of Hope Services Inc. collected the donations and were blown away by the response, sharing how much it will mean to the people and families they support. Thank you to everyone who donated, knitted, sorted and packed - this is what community looks like.

What a lovely surprise to have Adam Hort MLA drop in and say hello! Thank you for taking the time to learn about what we do here at Milperra - it's always great connecting with our local representatives. π
It was a pleasure to visit Rise and see the important work being done at Milperra Cottage in Mount Helena.
Respite care makes a real difference for families, carers and the people they support, giving them a safe, welcoming place and a chance to recharge.
Thank you to Kylie and the team for showing me around and for the care, compassion and commitment you bring to the community.

π Stratton Suns make the semis!
This July, our Stratton Youth Centre took on 5 youth centres and 60 young people in the newly launched City of Swan basketball comp. A day of friendly competition made possible by months of planning from the young leaders in the Stratton Youth Advisory Committee.
The result? Stratton Suns made it all the way to the semis, finishing 3rd overall, plus a well-earned Sportsmanship trophy for one of our young people.
Congrats to Ellenbrook Youth Centre for taking home the centre trophy this year, enjoy it while it lasts, the Suns will be back next year. Game on!

Roma's Next Chapter Begins β¨
This week, our North Social Group gathered for a morning tea to celebrate Roma, who's decided at the grand age of 100 that it's time to slow down and enjoy life a little more quietly. Roma's been part of the group for as long as Rise has run it, and before that under the Town of Cambridge.
Her Tuesday friends gave her a proper send-off, with scones, tea, and plenty of laughter.
She'll be dearly missed. Here's to your next chapter, Roma. π
