ERCWA proudly supports people from refugee, migrant, Aboriginal and marginalised backgrounds through programs that empower, build confidence, and create pathways to education, employment and leadership. The Edmund Rice Centre WA has a proud history and an on-going commitment to assisting people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Established in 1998 to provide essential settlement services and community education activities in the northern suburbs of Perth, the Centres’ services have expanded more widely throughout the metropolitan area with a particular emphasis on young people and youth leadership as a way of ensuring a positive future for all.

Our Women on Wednesday (WOW) participants certainly WOWED WA Footy! 🏉
After expressing an interest in learning more about Aussie Rules, our WOW participants wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity to develop their footy skills, bringing plenty of enthusiasm and competitive spirit to the field!
As you can see, there were plenty of footies flying around, but even more smiles!
A big thank you to WA Footy for getting our women involved and making the session such a fun experience! ❤️ With their newfound skills, our WOW group are now eagerly awaiting a call from the AFLW! 😄

A great day of connection, community and fun at our Banksia Grove Family Healing Program! 💚
Young people came together to enjoy an afternoon of footy, food and positive connection, with a special visit from the team at WA Football. 🏉
From getting involved in footy activities and learning new skills, to working together to cook and enjoy burgers and sausages, the session was all about building confidence, connection and a strong sense of community.
Thank you to WA Football for joining us and helping make the day such a positive experience for the young people and families involved. 💫

A strong start to our Empower Me Leadership Program! 🌟
Our first session was all about exploring what it means to be a leader — and discovering that leadership can show up in many different ways.
Led by Mal from Teamworks Development Australia (TDA), participants took part in activities and discussions designed to get them thinking, sharing ideas and working as a team. It was a great opportunity to build confidence, meet new people and begin developing skills they can use at school, at home and in the community.
Our FREE monthly Leadership Program is open to young people aged 10–17 and runs on the last Tuesday of every month, from 4–6pm at Sudbury Community House.

Each month will bring something new, with different facilitators helping participants build skills, try new things and grow their confidence.

🏉 Coaches became the students!
Our Youth Team recently swapped the sidelines for the training field, taking part in a footy coaching development session with WA Footy to build their skills, learn new techniques and pick up fresh ideas to take back into their programs.
It was a great reminder that there’s always something new to learn — and that stepping outside our comfort zone can help us grow, build confidence and be more open to new experiences.

Yesterday we had a visit from our neighbour, Encompass Legal & Community Services (ELCS), who came along to share how they support people to understand and exercise their legal rights. From free community education programs to assistance with legal and non-legal matters, including advocacy and referrals, ELCS provides client-centred, trauma informed support across Perth’s north metro area and wheatbelt. 🎭 Discover Your Creativity Through Theatre!
Young people aged 10–18 years are invited to get creative in a series of six FREE theatre workshops, delivered in partnership with Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA.
These fun, interactive workshops offer a welcoming space to:
✨ explore creativity and storytelling
✨ build confidence and self-expression
✨ create characters and try new ideas
✨ connect and have fun with other young people
No theatre experience is needed - just bring your imagination and a willingness to get involved!
