Today we headed to Glenelg, the last time I was there was in 1980 so it's changed a lot.
Then we went to the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary which was so peaceful. We didn't see any dolphins but enjoyed this beautiful place.

Today we explored a small part of Adelaide, the Torrens River and the botanical gardens. We had decided to have a more restful day but still managed to walk over 16,000 steps. I suppose we can rest when we get home.

Today was our last day in the beautiful McLaren Vale area so we treated ourselves to a special meal at d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant Each dish was amazing, expertly put together and the staff were wonderful.

We are now much closer to Adelaide in lovely cottage on the outskirts of the city. We wandered down to the local Foodland supermarket which has won the best supermarket in the world three times. I could have spent hours in there and would love to take the entire shop home and plonk it near my home. It would definitely reignite my love of cooking and shopping.

Today was a busy but fun day starting off at Willunga Farmer's Market where we enjoyed delicious pies for breakfast as well as browsing the huge variety of stalls and chatting to the friendly people.
Next we went to The Cube which I've given its own post because there was so much to see.
Afterwards we went to Wirra Wirra McLaren Vale for afternoon tea and then HUGH HAMILTON WINES where we met their very friendly sheep.
For dinner we shared a couple of dishes at Vasarelli’s which was walking distance from our accommodation. The spaghetti and gnocchi was a perfect way to end our last day in McLaren Vale.

d'Arenberg

Today we went to d'Arenberg which was amazing, there were so many things to photograph that I've given it its own post. We will be heading back tomorrow for lunch which we are really looking forward to.

Today we went to Victor Harbour.

We headed over to Granite Island by foot rather than taking the horse drawn tram and walked around the whole island taking in the gorgeous views. I was concerned about the welfare of the horses but got to see how loved and well cared for they are. They take turns and get a nice wash down once they finish their "shift" and its easy to see how much they are loved by their owners.

After our long walk we had fish and chips at the Hotel Victor and then drove to Aldinga Beach passing through Myponga whos name amuses me and saw the stunning views through the hills to the ocean.

I've also added photos of our yummy breakfast at Sam I Am cafe in McLaren Vale.

We definitely aren't feeling rested yet but we never seem to relax when we go away.

Today we packed up and left our little cottage in the hills and headed to our 2nd holiday location. On the way we stopped by Hahndorf again and had coffee and cake. The beesting was amazing.

On our drive to McLaren Vale we stopped by the roadside to photograph a tree and two horses trotted over to the fence. I just had to say hello even though I had to cross a road, climb over the crash barrier and crawl through a bush.

We arrived too early for check in at our accommodation so walked around town for a while and then had lunch at PIZZATECA The pizzas were delicious and the kitchen looked like we were back in Italy.

Our new little cottage is walking distance from the shops, cafes and restaurants and we are very happy we chose it. We look forward to spending the next few days here.

Today we went to FRED Eatery & FRED Living which is a few minutes from our accommodation and had delicious french toast for breakfast, then had a little walk around Aldgate.

Next we thought we'd go back to the Mount Lofty Summit to see the view without cloud cover and were happy to have a local kangaroo pose for a few photos. Then we went to Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens which were beautiful. I'm sure we will sleep well tonight.

Tomorrow it is time to pack up and move on to our second accommodation. We've really loved Adelaide Hills and will be sad to leave.

Today we went to the picturesque village of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. It is the oldest surviving German town in Australia and well worth a visit.

We had a tasty German sausages, mash and sauerkraut lunch at the German Arms Hotel, had morning and afternoon coffee at Otto's Bakery, visited many of the unique stores and generally enjoyed our whole day.

Today we explored some of the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

First we went to Mount Lofty to enjoy the views over Adelaide but the mountain was covered in clouds, so we got to enjoy the misty sights instead which was lovely.

Then we went to Morialta Conservation Park and took a short hike to Giants Cave and to Morialta First Falls. Everything was green and lush which is why we love travelling this time of year.

On the way home we stopped at Red Cacao Chocolatier for a hot chocolate for me, a coffee for hubby and a cake to share.
I think we will sleep well tonight.
