Connecting Anglican Schools Across the World

AngliSchools CEO, The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, recently served as Convenor of the inaugural Anglican Communion Schools’ Network (ACSN) symposium in London, working alongside The Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy AO DD, Archbishop of Perth and Chair of the Network, who facilitated the gathering.

The symposium brought together Anglican education leaders from 11 Provinces and 12 countries to share what is happening in their schools, discuss common challenges and opportunities, and explore what it means to be an Anglican school in different parts of the world.

For Peter, who is also CEO of Anglican Schools Australia, the gathering was an important opportunity to build stronger connections between Anglican educators internationally and to bring those conversations back to our own schools and communities.

A highlight was a visit to Lambeth Palace, where delegates were received by the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, for conversation, fellowship and worship.

The symposium was a strong reminder that while Anglican schools serve very different communities, we are connected by a shared commitment to young people, education and the mission of the Church, with much to learn from one another.

Peter will continue his work as Convenor as ACSN develops, with the next symposium to be held in New York in November 2027.

Three Staff, 70 Years of Service

The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, AngliSchools CEO, recently visited Georgiana Molloy Anglican School (GMAS) to recognise three long-serving members of staff for their outstanding contribution to their school communities.

Lisa Ness was recognised for an incredible 30 years of service across multiple AngliSchools, having also served at both Georgiana Molloy Anglican School and John Wollaston Anglican Community School. Kate Telchadder and Jonathan Yates were each recognised for an impressive 20 years of dedicated service to the GMAS community.

These milestones represent decades of dedication, commitment and care for students, colleagues and school communities.

We congratulate Lisa, Kate and Jonathan on these significant milestones and thank them for the important contribution they have made to AngliSchools.

A Warm Welcome in Ballarat

It was wonderful to meet so many local families at our recent Public Information Sessions for Ascension Anglican School in Ballarat.

Opening in 2029 for students from Prep to Year 6, Ascension will grow to offer Prep to Year 12 by 2035.

The sessions gave us the opportunity to share our vision and the latest plans for the new school, and to answer questions from families interested in becoming part of its foundation community.

We were delighted by the warmth, enthusiasm and genuine interest in Ascension and what it will offer families in Ballarat’s growing west.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to sharing more with the community as plans continue to take shape. Keep an eye out for our first update, coming soon!

Blessing our New School Site

What an absolute joy it was to gather on a beautiful, sunny morning in Ballarat to bless the 16-hectare site that will become home to Ascension Anglican School, our 18th AngliSchool, opening in 2029.

The Bishop of Ballarat, the Right Reverend Garry Weatherill, led a very special service, made even more memorable by performances from students of Cobram Anglican Grammar School.

Special guests included The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM (AngliSchools CEO), The Most Reverend Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy AO DD (The Archbishop of Perth and Metropolitan), Cr James Rinaldi (Councillor for the North Ward, City of Ballarat) and Ms Martha Haylett (Member for Ripon in the Victorian Legislative Assembly), Mr Adam Heath (Principal of Ballarat Grammar), as well as AngliSchools Vic/NSW principals: Mr Keith Willett, Mr Jim Laussen, Mr Jeremy Godden and Dr Adrian Johnson.

The service began with a beautiful Welcome to Country by Wadawurrung Elder, Aunty Kellie Phillips, and concluded with the traditional turning of the sod.

A warm thank you to everyone who shared this wonderful occasion with us. It was a truly special milestone for AngliSchools and Ascension Anglican School, and an exciting glimpse of the welcoming school community that will take shape on this site in the years ahead.
