Their achievement established a new site record while keeping the hole within survey tolerance and maintaining all safety and quality standards.

The team also ensured that clean, well-presented core was safely delivered to the core farm.

There is so much good intention behind R U OK?
Day. The desire to encourage connection, care and meaningful conversations is something many of us value deeply.

At the same time, it can be worth reflecting on how these conversations are created and held.
If an R U OK? Day event, gesture or initiative feels safe and accessible for those who are generally doing well, but not for those who are genuinely struggling, we may unintentionally miss the very people we hope to support.

For many people, being asked “How are you?” is not always an invitation to answer honestly. Sometimes the setting, the time available, the pace of the interaction, the relationship, or even the energy of the moment can make vulnerability feel impossible. In those moments, the familiar “I’m good, thanks” can become another experience of feeling unseen or alone.

Real support is rarely found in a single day or a single question. It grows through trust, presence, curiosity and a willingness to sit with discomfort when someone shares that they are not OK.
Rather than focusing only on asking the question, perhaps we can also focus on building our capacity to truly hear the answer. Deepening our trauma-informed practices, learning to hold space with compassion, and creating environments where honesty feels safe are all meaningful ways to support wellbeing.

The intention behind R U OK? Day matters. And so does ensuring that our efforts translate into genuine connection and care for those who need it most. That is the outcome many of us hope to see, not just on one day of the year, but every day.
