Family and domestic violence can be experienced by people of all classes, religions, ethnicity, ages, abilities and sexual preference.
Path of Hope is a Perth Rotary initiative mobilising Rotarians to support The Salvation Army’s services that provide safety, support, and empowerment to women and children escaping family and domestic violence, while raising awareness in local communities Domestic violence is behaviour which results in physical, sexual and/or psychological damage, forced social isolation, economic deprivation, or behaviour which causes the victim(s) to live in fear. In 2016, it was estimated that violence against women and their children cost the Australian economy $22 billion (KMPG, 2016). Nationwide, it is estimated that one in three women experience physical violence and one in five women experience sexual violence in their lifetime (ABS, 2006). In Western Australia between the 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2016, police attended 53 571 domestic and family violence incidents. that is more than 1,000 reports a week. In Perth, 70% of all emergency room visits are domestic violence related. The Salvation Army provides secure accommodation for women and women with children in a number of confidential locations throughout Australia (this includes emergency accommodation and medium-term accommodation). Through the provision of personal support and practical assistance, the Salvos aim to promote independent living, encouraging women to take control of their lives and helping empowering them to break the cycle of abuse through a range of workshops and living skills programs. The Rotary Club of Perth brings together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Together, Rotary and The Salvation Army aim to end the cycle of domestic violence through a joint partnership where Rotary provides the necessary funding to The Salvation Army to deliver the operational resources and expertise to tackle this issue of epidemic proportions.

They are working on our Donation and Kit Fulfilment System and The Little Traveller—innovative platforms designed to make support simple and transparent for everyone, from donors to refuge staff.
The donation system helps refuge staff request essential kits while allowing donors to follow their generosity into action. The Little Traveller brings families together through stories that explore the world and gently teach healthy relationships and respectful boundaries.

In a major national response to family violence, Rotary Path Of Hope has officially launched its nationwide rollout of 499 brand-new Evening Kits and 189 Kitchen Starter Packs for women and children escaping crisis, supplying every Salvation Army family violence refuge across Australia.
Formally announced on Wednesday night at Government House Ballroom in Perth, this volunteer-led Western Australian initiative reaches all states and territories. The support directly equips The Salvation Army’s nationwide network of 20 family violence refuges— spanning 189 units, 304 rooms, and 499 beds—ensuring families experience immediate relief and ongoing dignity from the moment they arrive.
"When a woman with her children arrives at refuge, the first message should be: you are safe, you are seen, and you are not alone," said Rebecca Tolstoy AM, Founding and Current Chairman of Rotary Path of Hope.
"An Evening Kit offers comfort in those first vulnerable hours, while a Kitchen Starter Pack helps families make anything from breakfast to dinner while building the foundations of a new home. These brand-new essentials are practical, but the hope they carry is immeasurable."

Every call to Family Violence carries risks that most of us never see.
This weekend’s tragic events in Queensland are a sobering reminder that Family Violence affects far more than those living behind closed doors. It impacts children, families, neighbours, first responders and entire communities. Reports indicate police were responding to a Family Violence incident when the situation escalated into violence. (7NEWS)
Today, our thoughts are with the injured police officer, their loved ones, the responding officers, and everyone affected by this tragic event.
At the Path of Hope Foundation, we remain committed to working alongside our partners to help prevent Family Violence before crisis becomes tragedy. Every conversation, every act of education, every intervention and every person who chooses to stand against violence matters.
Together, we can create pathways from fear to safety, and from trauma to hope.
