AHA Studio

As we edge closer to the end of 2025 , this year marks 20 Years of Practise as Fringe Architects and AHA Studio. I hit the magical 55 mark this month, so reflecting perhaps it’s time to slow down perhaps, wrap things up and take it easy? Well not quite. I’ve decided in 2026 that a shift is needed and perhaps an evolution from purely Architectural Pursuits to a combination of my continuing love of design, my fondness of the build process and the delight we all get when we invest our energy and time in good causes.l for the built environment. So what does all that mean? Well I’ve set up a Building Company! But not just any building pursuit. It will be Architecture led and will also encompass a Building Arm and Property Arm. Watch this space as well as a new IG Feed in the new year - TRANSITION - both a metaphor and a new identity and direction for the next 10-15 Years 💪

A snapshot of Perth’s vibrant architectural scene. Not only did we take out the Marshall Clifton Award but I was also Jury Head for the Alterations + Additions Category. That Peter Overman Award when to Craig Nener from .studio for his wonderful Shadow House. A worthy recipient. Next to that is the wonderful apartment project by on the same southern river side as . The state is in good hands I feel. Hopefully we will give the East Coast some good competition come National Awards time.

On Friday night we had the huge honour winning the Marshall Clifton Award for Residential Architecture Houses - New. This is the first time has taken out this award and we couldn’t be more chuffed it was Great to share this award with Adam from and James our client. We’d also like to thank our great team of collaborators on the project including and Phil Hogan for the wonderful landscape, Paul Terpkos from Terpkos Engineering and Rob Frith for his wonderful photography. A special thank you also to all of Adam’s trades who contributed to what was a great build progress - too many to name but Ed and Crew at , Steve for Joinery and George + Crew at . Special mention as well to our long time collaborators for the concrete blocks, for the Plywood and Mark at Benchmark for all the cabinetry. The exciting news for our studio is we are about to start the build for Deepwater 2 next door for James’ parents! Stay tuned!
