Karvan Coffee

September has been all about our coffee community.

From brewing and tasting together to getting competitive, creative and out on the road. It’s been such a good month of sharing coffee with the people who make this community what it is.

We started the month with our very first free filter workshop, then came our second Karvan Cup Latte Art Competition. We also welcomed a new piece to our Karvan Art Cup project, featuring the beautiful artwork of Teresa.

And somewhere in between all of that, we made our way down to Dwellingup to visit one of our favourite café partners, Garden Eats. If you’ve been thinking about taking a day trip to Dwellingup this spring, consider this your sign. Go for the drive, stay for a coffee, and show some love to this beautiful little café.

Looking back, September really was about the people and everyone who continues to share a cup with us.

Now we’re heading into October, with International Coffee Day just around the corner… and we’ve got something exciting brewing.

We’re proud to support Perth Zoo by donating our coffee hessian bags to be used as part of the orangutans’ enrichment.

It’s a small thing, but we love knowing that something from our roastery can have a second life and help keep our orangutan friends curious, active and engaged.

For us, it’s about more than coffee. We love being part of our community, supporting the people and organisations doing good, and giving a little bit of ourselves wherever we can.

Meet Kahlia, our Head of Coffee.

As many of you know, Kahlia is back! And we couldn’t be happier to welcome her home to the Karvan family.

With a deep understanding of coffee and a clear vision for where our industry is heading, Kahlia is here to help shape what’s next for Karvan.

From quality and brewing, to training, competitions and events, Kahlia will be across all things coffee at Karvan.

But beyond the coffee itself, Kahlia brings something we value just as much: a passion for people, learning and building a coffee culture that brings everyone along with it.

We’re so excited to have her back and even more excited to see where she takes us next.

Mugs #2 - Teresa Fernandez

Our relationship with Teresa began with a collaboration on Pure Tea, where she drew different scenes to match each of our tea flavours. Those original artworks still live with us today, scattered across desks around our office. Now, her work is back, this time gracing our Karvan Art Cup.

It was such a pleasure meeting Teresa when we visited her. She's exactly as bubbly and playful in person as her artwork suggests, welcoming us into her home and showing us the huge range of pieces she's created.

What struck us most is that Teresa doesn't stick to one certain style. She paints what's around her. It might be a toy left behind on the beach or a pair of scissors that once belonged to her parents. Everyday objects, given a life of their own.

Thank you, Teresa, for being such a generous and joyful collaborator. We love the way you find stories and character in the everyday, and we're so happy to have a little piece of that creativity on our Karvan Art Cup.
