The intention is to ensure individuals and their families feel informed, empowered, and genuinely cared for — especially when navigating deeply personal choices such as Voluntary Assisted Dying. Winning the One to Watch award touches me deeply because it reflects the heart behind everything I do. My work is rooted in one simple question: do they know the real you. Every conversation, every farewell, every moment spent guiding a family is shaped by that intention.
This award feels like a gentle nod that the way I show up with empathy, curiosity, and space for people to be fully themselves is making a difference. It honours the families who have let me walk beside them, and the loved ones whose stories I’ve had the privilege to help carry.
I’m grateful beyond words. Not for the title itself, but for what it represents: that tenderness, truth, and human connection still matter, even in the hardest moments of life.
And it reinforces something I see every day the way we do funerals is changing. Families want choice, meaning, and a farewell that feels true to the person they love. That future isn’t created in urgency; it’s created through planning. Our plans exist because they give people clarity, confidence and the chance to be known while they’re still here. They remove guesswork, reduce overwhelm, and make space for a farewell shaped by the person themselves.
This award tells me that this shift is needed, welcomed, and already happening. It’s a reminder that planning isn’t just helpful, it’s necessary if we want funerals to become more human, more honest, and more deeply connected in the years ahead.

When VAD became legal in WA, the Funeral Industry wasn’t ready. A prepaid funeral isn’t the answer when death is days or months away, This became the purpose of Closing Circles, End Of Life Plan.
