For us, R U OK? Day goes beyond the cupcake. 💛

This year marks the 7th year we’ve recognised R U OK? Day at Auto Control Systems.

And while coming together as a team over a yellow cupcake is part of the day, the message behind it is far more important.

For all seven years, our own Ben Jeffery has been the driving force behind R U OK? Day at ACS, helping us better understand the role we can all play in supporting the people around us.

Ben has a longstanding commitment to mental health in the wider community. A long-term volunteer with Beyond Blue, he now volunteers with A Stitch in Time (AU) Time, where he serves as Volunteer Lead.

Today, Ben reminded our team that supporting someone doesn’t mean you need to have all the answers.

You don’t need to be a mental health expert.

You can notice when something seems different.
You can listen without judgement.
You can include someone who might be having a tough time.
You can be kind.
And importantly, you can check in again.

As Ben put it, asking “R U OK?” is the start. Continuing to show someone that you’re there for them in the days, weeks and months that follow is what really matters.

We’re incredibly proud of the work Ben does both inside ACS and in the wider community.

Project Spotlight | Smart Dosing Units

Another great example of ACS engineering and automation helping solve a practical operational challenge.

We recently partnered with Rainstorm Dust Control P/L Control to design and deliver new PLC-based dosing units, providing greater control, visibility and remote access for their operations.

The ACS solution automatically controls dosing based on operational requirements while monitoring additive levels and system status. Operators have clear visual feedback through an integrated HMI and multi-colour beacon, while 5G connectivity enables automated email alerts and remote system monitoring.

Importantly, the system also enables the Rainstorm Dust Control team to remotely view the HMI, monitor additive levels, reset faults and adjust setpoints. ACS can also remotely access the PLC when required for diagnostics, fault finding or future program updates.

The project brought together a number of our in-house capabilities, including:
• Electrical and control system design
• PLC programming
• HMI development
• Remote connectivity and monitoring
• Electrical drawings
• Factory Acceptance Testing
• Commissioning and operator training

It's been brilliant working with the Rainstorm Dust Control team to demonstrate what ACS can uniquely deliver as a full-service engineering company.

Celebrating a great milestone at ACS — 15 years for Brendan (AKA ’The Bird’) 👏

Brendan joined us as a Storeman and, over the years, has grown alongside the business into a critical part of our operations. Today, as our Project Procurement Officer, he oversees purchasing across all projects, manages our stores, and plays a key role in maintaining our facilities and assets.

Known for his attention to detail (and what can only be described as a photographic memory), Brendan is someone who always has the best interests of ACS at heart. A true company man.

He’s constantly looking for ways we can improve, quietly driving standards higher every day.

Thanks for your commitment Brendan, a huge contribution over 15 years and counting.

On Saturday night we had the chance to celebrate 20 years of Auto Control Systems with the people who’ve been part of the journey.

It was great to bring together past and present team members, key suppliers, and the clients who have supported us along the way.

Over 20 years, there have been plenty of projects, challenges and milestones but it’s the relationships behind it all that have made it what it is.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to those who’ve played a role in shaping ACS over the years.

We’re proud of what’s been built and looking forward to what’s ahead.

We recently exhibited at the Indo-Pacific Robotics, Autonomy, AI and Cyber Conference and Exhibition. The conference brought together over 110 speakers from 20 countries across robotics, AI, cyber, agriculture, mining, energy, advanced manufacturing, space and more.

It was a wonderful opportunity for Auto Control Systems to be part of this incredible event showcasing:

🎉 A big milestone for ACS today!

We’re excited to welcome Alvin to our 10-Year Anniversary Board. In fact, we’ve had to start a second board as the first one is now full — a true testament to the loyalty and consistency of our team.

Alvin joined us on 17 August 2015 as a Storeman and over the years has left his mark in many ways — from being a talented drawer, to implementing our Lean Program, and of course as our trusty forklift driver 🚜.
