Every horse learns differently and every rider learns differently. My job is to adapt to the combination in front of me, not force everyone into the same box.

JUMPING LESSONS WITH BIT SAVVY 🐴

You do not need to already be brave, experienced or jumping big to book a jumping lesson with me. You just need to want to give it a go.

I have jumped to 1.25m, produced many horses from the ground up and ridden just about every breed, shape, size and personality you can imagine. I have competed in eventing, showjumping, show hunter and hunted, so whether your goal is your first little cross rail, a clear round, a bigger track or getting out eventing, I have been there and I can help you get there too.

I have riders going from their first crossbar to their first 1.10. I have kids who genuinely told me they thought they were going to die jumping, now out confidently clearing 80cm. I have helped green horses, nervous horses, hot horses, sticky horses, riders rebuilding confidence after a fall and riders who just need someone in their corner to say, “you’ve got this”.

Nothing phases me. There is no judgement, no pressure to jump higher than you are ready for and no expectation that you need to have it all figured out before you start.

I am here to keep you safe, explain things in a way that makes sense, hold your hand when you need it and give you that little push when you are ready. We build the foundations properly so you and your horse can feel confident, capable and actually enjoy jumping together.

YOUR HORSE IS NOT “JUST FUSSY” IN THE CONTACT.

Head tossing. Leaning. Chomping. Opening the mouth. Going above the bit. Curling behind it. Pulling through your hands. Feeling dead one day and reactive the next.

Sometimes it is training or pain elsewhere in the body. But sometimes, the bit simply is not working for that horse.

Every mouth is different. Tongue volume, bar shape, palate height, lip sensitivity, dental history, head carriage and way of going all affect what feels comfortable. A bit that works beautifully for one horse can feel completely different for another.

In one study, 52% of event horses had acute bit related mouth lesions after cross country. That is not to scare anyone. It is a reminder that mouth comfort matters and resistance should not just be accepted as normal.

A Bit Savvy fitting looks at your horse’s mouth, current bit and bridle fit, way of going and the behaviours you feel under saddle. We trial options from my extensive kit to find a setup that gives them the best chance to feel comfortable, confident and understood in the contact.

SCHOOLING RIDES 🐴

Schooling rides are not just for horses with a “problem”. They are one of the best ways to keep your horse fit, strong, consistent and moving forward in their education when life is busy or you are not able to ride as often as you would like!

Whether your horse needs more exercise, help building muscle and fitness, confidence after time off, a little niggle worked through, more consistency on the flat or just someone to keep them ticking over so they do not go backwards, I can help.

I ride a huge range of horses and ponies every week, from little ponies through to green OTTBs, competition horses and everything in between. Some I ride once a week, others a few times a week, depending on what they need and what works for you.

Every ride is tailored to the horse in front of me. The aim is always to keep them happy in their work, build strength and confidence, and make sure they are progressing in a way that supports their soundness and long-term education.

Group lessons are one of my favourite ways to learn 🤍

You get the coaching and individual feedback you need, while also having the fun, encouragement and confidence that comes from riding alongside other people who are working towards similar goals.

We can work on flatwork, poles, jumping, confidence, course riding and all the little things that help you and your horse improve together. There is always something for every level, and a good laugh usually included too.

Bit fitting is about more than just choosing a bit that “works”.

It is about understanding your horse’s mouth, their way of going, what you are feeling in the saddle and how you can both communicate more clearly.

Head tossing, leaning, opening the mouth, avoiding the contact, getting tense or inconsistent steering can all be little signs that something is not quite right. Sometimes it is training, sometimes it is comfort, and often it is a mix of both.

My goal is always to find a kind, practical option that helps your horse feel comfortable and confident, while making your ride more enjoyable too 🤍

One of my favourite parts of coaching is watching riders realise they actually can do the thing they have been scared of 🤍

Lessons are not about being perfect or only coming when everything is going well. They are for building confidence, learning the why behind things, working through the tricky moments and having someone in your corner who genuinely wants you and your horse to succeed.

From nervous first rides to big goals, flatwork, jumping, groundwork and everything in between, I love helping each partnership find their groove.

A green rider and a green OTTB straight off the track as a first horse can easily be a disaster without the right guidance, but look at Belle and Rose now 🥹
