Jacaranda timber. You may be surprised at how pretty it is!
These mini sizes are so sweet.
Oil still to come which, as you know, changes the look - always for the better!

I cannot wait to show this collection.

A good while ago Djarilmari Timbers found and was able to harvest a ridiculous birdseye Sheoak. My favourite part were those pieces that had been through a burn off. The charcoal black on it's edges while the normally honey tones deepened significantly from the heat of those flames. The timber itself hardened as a result.
This is not oiled! The depth and richness will make you swoon. It is spectacular.
This will be the base of a 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫
The top bowl has its own charred edge too.

The story of The Grandmother Tree just adds an extra element.

Beauty like this needs to be felt with fingertips and absorbed with eyes and heart. It's extra.

I introduced my 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 series last year. Then it was 13 beautiful pieces who's story had slowly layered into my subconscious.
It started a couple (maybe 3) years ago as a concept, then morphed into a narrative. I have never felt so fused to my timber work. Beyond connected.
These feel immensely powerful.

Elements of ancestory. Of resilience. Of support. Of nurture and power. Holders of life. Of all that has been before us and all who follow.
Those who have been a lifeline ~ perhaps reminded you who you are in those moments when you forget.
The list goes on.

This year at Mundaring Hills Open Studios I will be showcasing this new body and, as I did last year, will share their story with you.
There are some already finished alongside these works in progress, but I won't show you the whole until each one is complete. You need to see it as the whole.

I have dragged the trestle table out to create a clear space because there is SO MUCH going on in the Woodshed I need to place things out in their stages!
It is working well.

There is a little method and a LOT of madness!!
Ha!

My brain is trying to skip forward to thinking about anything that requires extra time to sort. Not my strongest skill..

Mundaring Hills Open Studios is just around the corner!!

Today was not what today was going to be, so with a little pivot, step-ball-change and some extraordinarily lavish jazz hands I started the process of changing my studio space for Mundaring Hills Open Studios .

These two cabinets are normally against the wall, but I designed them to become an island, which is what you see!
It means the art on the walls will be without a barrier. Allowing you to get right up to see their detail.
The little table in front will probably stay there too.
We shall see!

It's a huge job rearranging the space to flow,to feel cosy and cohesive all at the same time!

Hopefully tomorrow will be more tomorrowey!!

Roughing out new work.

Just wait until you see the colours of this timber!!
Swooooooon!

I have totally underestimated my thoughts on how long these would take. I have gone deep into detail to create all the flow. The top view is only one element. There is sooo much movement.
I am popping them to one side before I begin the final sanding as I need a little break from the intensity.
My arms are slightly cooked!
Not that my age has any factor in bouncing back....
Ha!

They will be ready for Mundaring Hills Open Studios
October 17th to 25th.

Have you blocked out you visit?! Make it happen!
