75 years of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and 20 years since the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

​This International Week of Deaf People (September 21–27), we stand together under the theme “Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights.”

​Sign languages are full, equal, and natural languages. Recognizing national sign languages isn't a gesture of goodwill - it is a core human right that unlocks access to education, employment, healthcare, and public life.

​True equality requires moving beyond recognition to full implementation. Reaffirming Deaf people’s human rights means guaranteeing access, and dismantling barriers.
