We had a very special visitor at Phoenix Academy - a former student from Japan who studied with us 32 years ago...

While visiting Australia, she made a special trip to Perth with one place she particularly wanted to return to: Phoenix Academy.

She came hoping to reconnect with her former teacher and to find the homestay family who welcomed her into their home more than three decades ago.
Our team searched through old records and was delighted to reconnect her - giving her the opportunity to revisit a very special chapter of her life in Australia!

Seeing a former student return after 32 years reminds us that studying abroad is about so much more than learning English. It is about the people you meet, the connections you make, and the memories that stay with you long after your studies have finished.

At Phoenix, “We Care” has always been at the heart of what we do. And sometimes, the best reminder of that is seeing a student walk back through our doors 32 years later.

Learning Through Discovery

Learning can be fun, practical and experimental - even within the classroom!

Through hands-on workshops, our study tour students explore scientific concepts, test ideas and work together to solve challenges. The classroom becomes a space for curiosity and discovery, where students can develop their critical thinking, experiment with different approaches and gain a deeper understanding through practical experience.

Our study tours can incorporate a variety of practical activities tailored to each group’s interests and learning objectives, giving students the opportunity to explore, experiment and learn in meaningful ways.

From Perth to Bangkok: sharing expertise and building skills

Last week, the Phoenix Training team travelled to Bangkok to deliver a Train-the-Trainer program as part of a WA TVET Consortium project for a leading workforce development organisation in Thailand.

Delivered over two weeks, the hybrid program brought together 20 experienced trainers, assessors, and education professionals from across Thailand. It combined online learning with practical face-to-face workshops delivered by Phoenix Training, drawing on Australian training and assessment best practice while adapting the content to the Thai vocational education context.

Participants explored practical approaches to training delivery, assessment, and learner engagement, while also sharing ideas and experiences from their own industries.

This WA TVET project was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Western Australian expertise, learn from local professionals and contribute to the ongoing development of trainers in Thailand.

A special thank you to Austrade Bangkok for supporting the project and helping create this opportunity. We are also grateful to our project partners for their trust and warm hospitality, and to all the participants for their enthusiasm, openness, and engagement throughout the program.

We look forward to continuing to build connections and create new opportunities between the Australian and Thai training sectors.

Four weeks in Perth. New skills, new friendships and unforgettable experiences.

Our Korean university students made the most of their time at Phoenix, improving their English, meeting students from different cultures and gaining new perspectives on their studies through industry and institutional visits.

They experienced life in our student accommodation, explored Western Australia’s incredible landscapes and stepped outside their comfort zones as they adapted to a new culture.

It was wonderful to welcome them to our campus and be part of their journey.

Four weeks may have passed quickly, but we are sure this chapter in Perth will stay with the students long after their journey home.

What a way to finish the year! 🎓

Our adult students came together to celebrate graduation and the end of another big year at Phoenix Academy.

It was a chance to recognise all their hard work, celebrate friendships formed in the classroom, and look ahead to new chapters in study, work, and life in Australia

We are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved. Not only in their language skills, but also in their confidence, independence and real-world communication.

Sweet endings to a big year for our Junior Students! 🎄✨

To celebrate the end of term, our juniors spent the day:

🏠 Building (and eating!) their own gingerbread houses
🎶 Singing Christmas carols together
🌞 And laughing their way through the Aussie version of “Jingle Bells”

It was the perfect mix of festive fun and celebrating friendships!

We’re so proud of everything our Junior Students have achieved this year and loved finishing on such a joyful, very Aussie note. 💛

Real classrooms. Real connections. Real confidence.

Our visiting students spent the day at a local high school with a buddy by their side. They joined lessons, moved between subjects, and practised English in everyday situations. That mix of language, culture, and friendship builds confidence and helps students feel ready for new experiences.
