Last week we met with school leaders from across WA to encourage the implementation of sun protection standards and policy in primary schools at the 2026 Fotoworks WAPPA Conference!
This year's theme: 'The Lens We Choose', highlighted the importance of perspective, both in problem solving and in finding opportunities.
Thank you to conference organiser Western Australian Primary Principals' Association - WAPPA for having us again this year!

Spring has sprung! Blossoms are blooming 🌺 birds are singing 🐦 and the UV Index in WA is returning to its usual programming 📈☢️
On average, the UV in WA during spring is mostly Very High and even Extreme in the northern-most parts of our state.
So, whether you’re well and truly out of winter hibernation, or still slowly defrosting, make sure that when the UV is 3 or above, you protect your skin.

Things to avoid running into:
- an ex
- in-laws
- skin cancer
At least one of these can be avoided by using sun protection🙃

All solarium or collarium use is risky business 😬
In 2016, laws came into effect in WA banning commercial solariums because they increase the risk of skin cancer.
Recently, modified sunbeds have emerged, called collariums, which are falsely promoted as a “healthy” alternative to solariums 👎
Charging a fee for solarium tanning is illegal in WA and should be reported to the WA Department of Health Radiological Council on (08) 9222 0888 or [email protected].

And remember, there’s no safe way to get a tan.

PADDLE OUT FOR MARK LANE
This Saturday, August 29, we’ll come together at Scarborough Beach to celebrate the life of our CEO, colleague, mentor and friend, Mark “Laney” Lane after his recent passing.
Laney’s family, friends and the surfing community are invited to gather at Sunset Hill from 8am, before paddling out together in his memory.
Laney dedicated more than two decades to surfing, with his contribution and influence felt across WA, Australia and around the world. His passion, leadership and genuine care for the sport and its people will leave a lasting legacy.
Our love, thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mark’s family, loved ones and friends.
