A boisterous beer corner, a halcyon home for wine, and a lively, all-day kitchen for everything in-between. We believe in good food and drink for all.

Over 100 years ago, petitioners used to gather in the Perth CBD to lobby for causes they believed in.

Pouring Pinot all August long.

This month, the Wine Merchant glass list is handing things over to the Pinot family — Noir, Gris, Blanc, Auxerrois & Meunier, with expressions from all over the world.

Think delicate Burgundy, bright aromatics, soft structure & plenty of reasons to order another glass.

Before the first coffee is poured or the first plate leaves the pass, the building has already set the scene.

Wrapped in the heritage brickwork of the State Buildings, Petition sits within one of Perth’s most storied corners — a place that has stood at the heartbeat of the city since 1875.

From old-world charm to the steady rhythm of daily dining, our little neighbourhood local carries a piece of Perth’s past into every morning, lunch & night spent around the table.

For the table, technically.
Our Frankland River Pork Tomahawk comes in at 600g, with seasonal salad & pineapple whisky sauce bringing the fresh, sweet & smoky balance — made for sharing, but we’ll let you make that call.

A romantic evening shared over the Chef’s Selection menu.
A long-overdue catch-up with friends that begins with a bottle to share & ends with a table full of plates.

A pre-show dinner, an after-work wine, or one of those evenings that starts casually & turns into something worth staying for.

Whatever brings you into the city, let Petition be your first stop for the night.

Small plate, serious flavour.
Ham hock croquettes with cranberry & apricot — golden, smoky & just the right way to start.

The faces behind the pass.

Led by Head Chef Jessica Roe, our kitchen team is the heart of Petition — bringing sharp skills, good energy & plenty of care to every service.
From the prep to the final plate, this is the crew making the magic happen behind the scenes.

Say hey next time you catch them at the open pass.

Winter gives the city a slower rhythm — crisp morning air rolling in from the Swan River, collars pulled high, coffee on the mind.

Step inside Petition & let the warmth take over. The kitchen is on, the coffee is pouring & your neighbourhood local is ready to make the morning feel a little more like home.

Fresh Common Loaf, warm from the oven & filling the morning air with the kind of smell that makes you slow down for a second.

Golden crust, soft centre, a little steam when it’s torn open — simple, familiar & exactly the sort of thing that feels right at home on the table.

The heart of our house lies with its people.

From the first greeting at the door to the final garnish placed on a dish, every moment is shaped by a team devoted to the art of hospitality.

It’s the thoughtful service, steady hands in the kitchen & the little details that make your time at Petition feel undeniably easy & welcoming.

There’s a certain kind of comfort that only a good steak can bring.

Our 250g Grilled Kidman Premium Wagyu 2/3 steak arrives with broccolini and house butter — tender, richly flavoured and finished simply so every bite does exactly what it should.

No fuss. Just a very good reason to book dinner.
