APPRENTICE COMPLETION
On Friday 3th of July 2026 Elsie completed her apprenticeship ππππππ
Elsie started her Apprenticeship at The Wanneroo Tavern, where she spent the entirety of her time under Chef Nicole Finaly. Elsie enjoyed learning to deal with busy services, and camaraderie she found with the team. Elsie was always happy to help out with extra events taking place and has proven to be a very driven and dedicated young Chef.
Well done Elsie, your hard work has paid off, congratulations!

HGT does PorkStar 2026!!!
Last Monday two very lucky HGT Apprentices got to work under some of WAβs best Chefs for this years PorkStar event.
Lewis and Jade helped execute 8 amazing canapes designed by some of the biggest names in Perth, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and gaining praise from everybody involved.
HGT is very proud of you both, two great young Chefs in the making!

APPRENTICE COMPLETION
On Sunday 5th of July 2026 Shanne completed her apprenticeship!!
Shanne began her journey as a chef as a School Based Apprentice in 2022 at The Brook Bar and Bistro where she learned the basics of the craft, before moving to Good Company under Chef Meni Zini. There she learned to deal with busy services in a large team. She completed her last 1.5 years of her Apprenticeship at ALOFT under Chef Vincy Silveira, where she learnt to manage all sections of the busy kitchen by herself, finishing up on the Grill section. Shanne has proved herself to be a very sincere and honest young chef, always trying her best to learn as much as she can in each kitchen she has worked.
Well done Shanne, a very well deserved qualification, congratulations!

The HGT Chefs will be teaming up with Melissa Palinkas and PorkStar for our next Workshop Masterclass, showing our Apprentices how to break down a side of pork, and cooking 3 very unique pork dishes using beautiful local Berkshire Pork alongside some amazing Perigord Truffles from Australian Truffle Traders

The Chef Ambassador Program recently visited SMYL in Rockingham, and what a fantastic experience it was!
It was a pleasure to meet such an enthusiastic group of students, all eager to learn about the hospitality industry and the exciting career opportunities it offers. The students showed great interest, asked thoughtful questions, and demonstrated a real passion for developing their skills and exploring future pathways.
A big thank you to the team at SMYL for their warm welcome and for the incredible work they do supporting and inspiring young people. We look forward to seeing these talented students continue to grow and achieve their goals.
The future of our industry is bright with young people like these leading the way!

What an incredible Chef Ambassadors program in Broome!
Over the few days, I had the opportunity to visit some fantastic schools and TAFE campuses, connecting with students and sharing our passion for the hospitality industry. It was inspiring to meet so many enthusiastic young people eager to learn about careers in cookery, hospitality, and the exciting opportunities our industry has to offer.
A big thank you to the teachers, lecturers, and staff who welcomed me so warmly and helped make each visit a success. The engagement, curiosity, and talent I saw throughout the trip highlight a bright future for the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals.
We are proud to support and encourage future industry leaders and look forward to seeing many of these students pursue rewarding careers in hospitality.

What an incredible day at the Taste the Future School Cooking Competition!!
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our judges on the day Josh Vears, Melissa Palinkas and our very own Garth Cleveland, and .secondary.college for hosting the event. All your commitment to fostering culinary skills, creativity, and confidence in young people is greatly appreciated.
A special thank you also goes to the producers and suppliers Mahogany Creek Distributors and morley growers, who provided the outstanding ingredients used throughout the competition. The quality, freshness, and variety of the produce allowed the students to showcase their talents and create dishes of an exceptionally high standard.
It was inspiring to see so many young cooks embracing local, high-quality ingredients while demonstrating innovation, teamwork, and passion for food.
Congratulations to all participants, teachers, volunteers, judges, and sponsors for helping create an unforgettable event. Together, we are helping to inspire the next generation of chefs and food industry professionals.

The Chef Ambassador Inspires Students at Woodvale Secondary College
Our Chef Ambassador Kiren Mainwaring visited the Hospitality students at Woodvale Secondary College to share insights into the exciting world of professional cooking and the hospitality industry.
During the engaging session, students learned about the journey to becoming a professional chef, including the training, dedication, and creativity required to succeed in the industry. The Chef Ambassador discussed the realities of working in commercial kitchens, the importance of teamwork and communication, and the diverse career opportunities available within hospitality.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions about daily life as a chef, career pathways, apprenticeships, and the skills employers look for in aspiring hospitality professionals. The presentation provided valuable real-world perspectives and inspired students to consider future careers in the culinary arts.
