🌈 Meet Munchie, my counselling Worry Monster!
Clients write down a worry and feed it to Munchie. While it may seem like a fun activity, it serves an important therapeutic purpose.
Writing worries down helps clients externalise thoughts, express emotions more easily, gain a sense of control, and create distance from anxious feelings. The simple act of "feeding" a worry to Munchie can help reduce stress, build emotional awareness, and remind clients that worries don't have to be carried alone.
Sometimes healing begins by taking a worry out of your mind and placing it somewhere safe. 💜
✨ This activity supports the teaching of:
✅ Externalising worries
Writing a worry down helps move it from inside the mind onto paper. This can make worries feel less overwhelming and easier to understand.
✅ Creates emotional distance
By physically handing the worry over to Munchie, clients are reminded that they are not their worries. The worry becomes something separate that can be explored, challenged, or managed.
✅ Encourages emotional expression
Some children, teens, and even adults find it easier to write a worry than say it “out loud.” Munchie provides a safe and non-threatening way to communicate difficult feelings.
✅ Promotes a sense of control
Anxiety can leave people feeling powerless. Feeding a worry to Munchie gives clients an active role in managing their emotions and can increase feelings of confidence and capability.
✅ Reduces anxiety and stress
The physical act of "letting go" can be surprisingly calming, helping clients feel lighter, more settled, and ready to engage in problem solving or coping strategies.
✅ Makes therapy feel safe and engaging
Play based and creative approaches can help build trust, lower barriers to communication, and make counselling more approachable, especially for paediatric clients.
🌈 Every worry that Munchie eats creates an opportunity for healing, reflection, and growth.
Because sometimes the first step in managing a worry is simply getting it out of your head and into the hands (or mouth!) of a very hungry monster.

Have you ever used a creative strategy to help manage worries or anxious thoughts?

🍎🥧 Sometimes the sweetest life skills are learned in the kitchen.
Baking together isn’t just about making apple pie.
✅️ It’s about building communication, patience, teamwork, resilience, and positive family relationships that support long-term mental health and wellbeing. 💛
In a world where counselling conversations are increasingly focused on connection, emotional safety and family wellbeing. Small moments like this matter, more than ever!
✅️ Creating together teaches children and families:
✨ problem-solving
✨ emotional regulation
✨ confidence
✨ connection
✨ healthy routines
✨ the importance of slowing down and being present
💜 Let’s be honest… a smiley-face pie makes the whole process even better 😊🥧
😋 Sometimes the best therapy starts around the kitchen bench.

‼️ Public Service Announcement‼️

💎 Your worth is not determined by:
❌ How many emails you've answered today
❌ How productive you've been this week
❌ Whether you folded the washing straight away (or ever)
❌ Someone else's opinion of you
❌ The number of tabs currently open in your brain

💜 Self-worth isn't something you earn through achievement, perfection, or people-pleasing. It's something you already possess.
💜 Many of us spend far too much time trying to prove we're "enough"—at work, at home, and everywhere in between. But the truth is, your value doesn't increase when you're winning at life, and it doesn't decrease when you're having a tough week.
💜 At iTHRIVE Wellness, we often help people move away from their inner critic and towards a kinder, more realistic relationship with themselves. That means embracing imperfections, recognising strengths, setting healthy boundaries, and treating yourself with the same compassion you'd give a good friend.
Remember:
💎 "A diamond doesn't question its worth because someone fails to see its value. Neither should you."
💎 And if diamonds can be covered in dirt and still be valuable, then you're allowed to have a messy kitchen, an overflowing inbox, and a bad hair day without questioning your worth. 😉

💭 What's one thing you appreciate about yourself today?🤔

My dog's boundaries are crystal clear:
🐾 Walk? Yes.
🐾 Treats? Absolutely.
🐾 Sharing the couch? Negotiable.
🐾 Attending unnecessary meetings? Not available right now.

⁉️ Maybe we could all learn something from that. 😉
"I'm not available for that right now" is a boundary, not a personality flaw.

❤️‍🩹 Burnout isn't always about doing too much, it's often about giving too much without enough recovery, support, or boundaries.
The people who care the most are often the ones carrying the heaviest load.
🐾 Meet Winston, our loved therapy dog and daily reminder that wellbeing isn't just about what we achieve, it's about how we care for ourselves along the way.
✨ Rest is not a reward for reaching breaking point.
✨ Recovery is not selfish.
✨ Boundaries are not barriers.
💯 They're essential. 💯

⁉️ This week ask yourself this: 💭 Where am I over giving, and what needs a gentle "no"? 💭
👇 POLL: What's your biggest challenge when it comes to protecting your energy?
🟢 Saying "no" without guilt
🔵 Taking time to rest
🟠 Managing workload and expectations
🟣 Asking for support

This year, I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering my services with Kingsley Westside Football Club, and these photos capture exactly why this work matters.
They reflect the dedication of one of their coaches, Andy, who has been working closely alongside me to ensure that every player’s individual needs are not only recognised but fully supported. Inclusion isn’t just a goal here, it’s a standard that Kingsley Westside consistently delivers across all age groups.

Backstory:
One of the club’s under 8's players had been finding it difficult to transition into his new team. He experienced a regression in social anxiety and emotional regulation, which began to impact both his performance and enjoyment of the game.
Coach Andy immediately stepped in. Together, we identified potential triggers and worked through tailored strategies, including focused 1:1 support. His commitment to understanding and supporting this player made a powerful difference.
In just a few sessions, this young player’s soccer spirit and confidence on the pitch returned. Even more importantly, we saw improvements in emotional regulation both on and off the field, and he is now thriving once again.
What makes this especially meaningful is that this level of inclusive, child-centred practice isn’t the exception, it’s the norm at Kingsley Westside.
It truly is a privilege to work alongside such a genuinely inclusive club.
2026 is already shaping up to be an incredible season for players, volunteers, and the entire community.
