With Science Week just around the corner, our preschool children have started their own little growing adventure! They explored mung beans up close with magnifying glasses before carefully drawing what they observed! 🫘🌱
Now comes the exciting part… waiting and wondering what will happen next! Over the coming days, we’ll be checking on our little seeds, watching for the first little sprouts and discovering the magic of growth right before our eyes! 🔎✨

Today's menu was full of colour, creativity and plenty of little hands at work! Our toddlers got busy creating their own pizza art, choosing where each piece would go, adding glue and carefully placing their toppings. 🍕🎨
Along the way, they were practising those little hand movements that matter so much, building fine motor control, hand-eye coordination and concentration while simply enjoying the process of creating something of their own. ✨

Learning never stops, and neither does our commitment to growing alongside the children we support. A few of our educators had the wonderful opportunity to take part in a leadership training session with Cathrine Neilsen-Hewett (Chief Children’s Officer), exploring new ideas and perspectives around pedagogical leadership and supporting children’s learning. 💛
We left with fresh perspectives, new inspiration and plenty to take back into our everyday practice. Because when we keep growing, our children grow with us. 🍃✨

So many textures, so many ways to explore! Our toddlers got hands-on and feet-on as they discovered a variety of textures, feeling their way through soft, fluffy, squishy, rough or hard materials. 👐🦶✨
From curious little hands to busy little feet, our toddlers explored each texture in their own way, finding joy in every new sensation along the way. 💛🌿
Did you know we invested $65.5M into our social purpose last year, a 14% increase on the year before? 👏 At Goodstart, we're proud of the impact we have on children, families and communities. As a not‑for‑profit, every dollar we earn is reinvested to improve outcomes – from high‑quality learning and educator development to extra support for children who need it most.
Because when we put children first, the impact goes further 💛

There’s something special about watching children turn simple materials into something completely their own. The children explored their creativity by making beautiful button trees using paper, markers, glue and colourful buttons of all shapes and sizes. 🌳🖌️
With little hands busy choosing, arranging and carefully placing each button, no two trees were quite the same, and that’s what made each one so special! 🌱💚

✨ A week full of colours, shapes and hands-on learning! ✨
Our toddlers have been busy exploring, creating and discovering through play! From sensory experiences and water play to building shapes with colourful blocks and exploring colour matching, our toddlers have been learning through hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and discovery. 💛💙❤️💚
Because the best learning happens when they can touch it, try it, explore it and simply enjoy learning through play! 🌈

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.
When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:
💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.
💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.
💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.
💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.
💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.
Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.
Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.
