After months safely tucked away underground, these adorable Numbat joeys have taken their very first steps into their new world above ground.

The youngsters have been seen climbing over mums back, darting through her legs and sticking close to her side while they get used to standing on their own two feet.

Over the next few months, the joeys will learn everything they need to survive in the wild preparing them for their release into the wild.

For 30 years, our Native Species Breeding Program have released 325 Zoo-born Numbats into protected habitats across Australia.

These three are amongst five joeys born in our breed-for-release program, and thanks to our dedicated team of experts they're on track for success beyond our Zoo gates later this year 🐾
