A great few days in Sydney for the 2026 Airbnb Summit, bringing together some of Australia and New Zealand’s leading professional hosts and short-term rental operators.

Plenty of valuable conversations around where the industry is heading — from AI implementation and listing optimisation to changing market trends, new Airbnb features, compliance, regulation and the continued evolution of professional hosting.

One of the biggest takeaways was the continued strength of the sector. Demand continues to grow year on year, regulatory progress is being made, and there remains plenty of optimism around the future of Airbnb and short-term rentals across Australia and New Zealand.

It was also great to see Perth continuing to perform exceptionally strongly, remaining among the top three cities globally for short-term rental performance — reinforcing just how much opportunity still exists in our home market.

As the industry becomes more sophisticated, the operators who embrace technology, data, compliance, better guest experiences and smarter optimisation will continue to raise the standard.

Most importantly, events like this are a great reminder of the value of getting in a room with other experienced operators, sharing ideas, learning what’s working and building relationships across the industry.
