Food Producer for Season 9 of The Great Australian Bake Off. How amazing does that sound?

A year on, I am still pinching myself and can’t believe the opportunities afforded that have come my way throughout my career—or how far I have come.

Back in 2015, I was sipping a little gin in the middle of the night at my parents’ holiday house when an advert popped up on FB: applications now open for The Great Australian Bake Off, Season 2.

The gin was my Dutch courage, and I threw caution to the wind and applied, thinking, “What’s the worst that could happen?”

At that time, I was a home baker working for Domayne with one of the world’s best bosses, David Lewis, who, when I told him I had been shortlisted, fully encouraged me to pursue it and never hold back.

Never in my WILDEST dreams did I think I would get on the show, but as I drove home on the evening of my final interview, over the Iron Cove Bridge, I rang my husband and my mum in a panic and said, “I think I’m going to get on the show…”

They both felt it would happen too.

When I say the Bake Off Shed and the team gave me one of the best experiences of my life—aside from marrying my hubby and bearing my two babies—I mean it. I still talk about it with such warmth now.

I learnt so much about myself. And when I finished in the top three as a finalist, I still couldn’t believe that this little Italian home baker had made it to the end. God knows I was a maniac on that show! Hahah.

Fast-forward to last year, when a random call came through. An amazing and much-admired Kate had popped my name into the hat, and I became the Season 9 Food Producer on one of my favourite shows of all time.
