Strathfield Musical Society
We are a volunteer run, not-for-profit, community musical theatre society based in Strathfield NSW 🎠Our first show was 'Land of Smiles'.
Strathfield Musical Society (formerly Strathfield Light Opera Company) was founded in 1968. In 1988 we became Strathfield Musical Society (SMS) Inc. The change of name reflected our new incorporated status and the fact that we perform musicals as well as light opera. SMS receives no financial assistance or sponsorship from outside sources (although we are very receptive to the idea)! Our only source of income is through Show Fees (yes we actually PAY to go on stage), fund-raisers through social events and most importantly, ticket sales. Of course, not all assistance has to be financial. We gratefully acknowledge and thank all those who support us by donating their time and talents to our endeavours. SMS has been bringing quality entertainment to audiences in the Strathfield area for more than thirty years. But what you may not realise is that you could become involved too! The Society offers its members the opportunity to learn about and experience the thrill of performing. For those who do not wish to do that however, the Society also needs committed people interested in stage management/crewing, set design/construction, front of house sales, marketing, wardrobe, production design, musicians and a range of administrative tasks that go with an organisation such as this. Most importantly though, we are a family. Over the years, members have formed very close ties and associations and it is the experience of anyone who joins that they very soon find they are an integral part of a close knit group.
Beverly Bass was the first female captain at American Airlines, and was piloting the plane from Paris, France to Dallas, Texas on 9/11 when they were diverted to Gander International Airport. She has to manage her anxious passengers and crew while stranded on the ground for 28 hours without direct communication.
Lydia has been performing ever since she was little and she spent her time creating plays in her backyard. She has wanted to be in Come From Away since she saw the Australian Production in 2022 and she is very excited to be able to play Beverly Bass in Strathfield Musical Society’s production.

Oz Fudge was a small town officer suddenly thrust into a global crisis — and he rose to it with humour, heart, and remarkable generosity.
In the shows Clinton has previously done with SMS, we have seen him playing Gomez Addams and The Cat In The Hat... and now he's playing Constable Oz Fudge. Clinton has been voted the most attractive cast member of the show, a title that is well deserved!

Hmmm she looks familiar. Was she Madame Giry in Phantom of the Opera? Or Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast. Maybe it was Mrs Paroo in Music Man? Perhaps the mum in Ladies in Black? Well, if you said all 4, you'd be right! Now she's back as Beulah Davis in Come from Away.
